Last Saturday we went to Papa's Pumpkin Patch. This is our fifth year in a row to go to this patch. It is most definitely our favorite family-friendly patch. Located just a few miles north of Newton, Kansas, there is no charge to get in and only minimal charges for a select few activities there. We have always gone first thing in the morning, but went in the late afternoon this year. I think that the morning time is a better time to go for our family... but either time of day still allows for fun for all ages. All activities at the patch go on all day long, with the exception of special events like a band playing or a professional photographer which would only be there at special times.

One of our kids' favorite things every year is the big white slide. They enjoyed sliding together over and over this year. The slide is located at the entrance to the patch so for us it works well to slide a few times at the beginning of our visit and again at the end of our visit.
Silas rode down a few times on Eric and I's laps and sitting next to, or laying next to one of his sisters before he decided to go by himself a few times.
There were about ten of these crazy flat scarecrows standing around the slide!
Who wouldn't want to miss taking a few spins on the merry-go-round? For your safety and others around you, please stay seated and hold onto the green rails.
Love these face boards every year... Look at my three pumpkin heads!
There was a smaller "kid" corn maze this year which lead to the play equipment area... Both girls wanted to lead us all through this maze.
The play equipment is ALWAYS fun! Big tires, barrels, and swings are great for lots of climbing, jumping and zooming through the air.
Even Daddies can ride on the swings!
Sarah liked peek-a-booing Silas and Phoebe as they crawled through this tunnel over and over.
Headed out into the PATCH to find the best pumpkin...
After about ten minutes of looking and wandering through the patch we came across this giant. It was on its side, but when Eric turned it upright we all knew it was "the ONE"!
There were three vines to cut to free it from the patch. Each kid got to have a turn helping Daddy cut.
Yay for these wagon/carts! I certainly did not want to try to carry any of my kids and a GIANT pumpkin all the way back to the entrance of the patch. I have a husband who would've piled a kid on his shoulders, and on his back, and the third one in his arms along with the GIANT pumpkin, (he's nice, AND strong like that, but me, no way, definitely not as nice as him, and forget it on the strong front. He-Man is his middle name. Not mine.) You all have legs. Walk on I say. Walk on. So, three CHEERS for the wagon/carts that are provided (at no charge) for all to use at Papa's Pumpkin Patch! Hip-Hip Hooray! I thank you, and He-Man thanks you.
Each kid wanted to try the pumpkin/gourd slingshot. (4 shots for $1.00) Not one of them hit the target this year. Boo.
READY!
SET!
GO!
and, GO!
One more time...
GO!!!!
Next the kids did a little corn grinding...
and some more smiling....
and some more sliding.
Wheeee!
Happy Pumpkin Patch Day to YOU!
I am thankful for these three happy children, my He-Man, and our fun day at Papa's Pumpkin Patch!
P.S. Our pumpkin weighed 37 pounds this year.
