Labor Day Weekend 2017

Labor day weekend brought us some fun times and some days of working on the new house.  The kids and I enjoyed more of the fun times and Eric had more of the working times....  We love him and all the working times he is putting in for our family at our new old farmhouse to make it perfect for us.  Seriously, HE. IS. THE. BEST.

Friday evening the kids and I headed to my parents house.  When we got there we all headed out to our friends' house in the country for some farm pond fish'in.
We all caught fish, but Phoebe caught the biggest fish and the most fish.  She also fished the longest and had the most patience.  Way to go, Angler Girl!
She even went out fishing on the little farm pond boat with Mitch, smiling and catching fish the whole time!
After fishing, Mitch fed the catfish.  They are huge!  It is always fun to watch them swim up to the surface to eat.
The girls liked swinging in the hammock.
The next day, (Saturday) we headed out to the lake with Mom and Dad.  The weather was perfect.  We anticipated the lake being super busy, but it wasn't too bad.  The kids started right out swimming and jumping in the lake over and over again.
Next, riding the tube.  Popee gave a little bit faster rides this time to whoever gave the thumbs up signal.
A faster ride = A little rougher ride
Phoebe didn't give the thumbs up signal as much as Sarah and Silas.  She was a bit more cautious.
This little guy loves going to the lake, being on the boat, and loves the water.
He liked going faster in the tube this time, and got some pretty big bounces and waves on his ride behind the boat.
I got to ski again.  I handed mom my camera and asked her to try to take some pictures of me while I zoomed around behind the boat.  (She did a good job.  Thanks Mom!)
Trick time.  This is my best trick on regular water ski's.  I learned it from my Dad.  He has a lot of water ski tricks.  Maybe next summer we can get the actual "Trick" Ski's back out for some more fun and new tricks.  (Trick ski's are a shorter ski with no rudder/fin on the bottom.  They are worn for a freestyle type skiing, and allow the skier to perform more tricks on the water.)  Dad use to be a whiz on Trick Ski's too.  Matt and I use to give them a go every summer, but Dad was always the most daring and tricky guy on them.
LOOK! No hands!!!
Sarah was ready to ski again.  This time WITH ME!  (Thanks, Mom, for capturing these moments of Sarah and I in pictures too!  Next time, no standing in the boat while being the water ski photographer!)
She was ready, and popped right out of the water.  What a rock star!
She fell a few times, but wanted to keep going and going and going.  That's my girl!!!
You can probably tell by my face in the picture above and below, this was EXCITING and SO COOL of a moment for me.... Me skiing (one of my favorite summer activities) with my daughter!  I was so happy and excited that she got it and we can do this TOGETHER!  (Still makes me smile.)
We also had time for some Zip Sled riding....
Phoebe likes to stand up, then try to ride the Zip Sled out of the boat wake.  She usually can get it out of the wake, but then falls off once it goes over the wake.
Sarah got daring on the Zip Sled this time.  Standing up, then turning, and turning, and riding it backwards while standing!!!  It took her a couple tries to get it and make the turn.  It took a lot of balance and concentration.  Of course, she wasn't going to give up until she did it.
Way to go kiddo!  Love your determination, courage, and athleticism.
Sunday night, back in Wichita, we went to the drive-in movies together.  We saw Cars 3 and Despicable Me 3.  It was a nice evening, once we found a good place to park the van without big vehicles in front of us blocking our view.  (We had to move 3-4 times before we found a "good spot" without a blocked view.)
We are so blessed, and grateful for family and all of the fun times we get to share together.
~ These are some good times ~
You're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this.
