Time In Texas

**Guest Blogger**
Eric Hendrickson

My brothers and I had talked recently about wanting to meet in Oklahoma to play some golf.  However, with our kids schedules, there was no way to make it work.  Stacee had mentioned being disappointed that we hadn't gone on any summer vacations.  For the Labor day weekend, I decided that it would be good to make a trip to Fort Worth so we could do all the above.

Saturday morning we went golfing and we had a great time.  We all did well (Bret the best, Marc not as well as normal and I did better than normal) and we shot even par on a difficult course (3 man scramble).
While the bros were golfing, the girls and the kids went to a farmer's market and swam in Bret and Andrea's pool.

We were all excited to go watch Ayden play football Saturday night.  I wanted to wear the jersey above but the family was just laughing at me.  I don't see what was so funny.  It looks good.

We had fun watching Ayden's team easily defeat their opponent.  Ayden played center and defensive end.  Below I am showing Mom how to use her new phone.

Bret is one of the coaches and he is standing next to Ayden on the sideline.  Ayden is number 11.
Below, after the game, Sarah, me, Ayden, Silas, Bret, Kallin, Marc, and Phoebe.

After the game we were able to find an open restaurant so that we all could eat dinner together, Chili's.
On Sunday, Phoebe went to get her ears pierced.  Grandma Sharon also got her ears pierced, (a second hole).

On Sunday night we had the family fantasy football draft.  It was fun talking pre-draft strategy and making comments during the draft.  We also discussed our teams after the draft.  We all thought mom had a good team and so far she is dominating.  The brothers are all 1-1.  The goal is to keep the Hendrickson name on the Nickelfritz trophy for 2020.

It was a short 3 day trip, but it was fun.  We love our Fort Worth family and wish we could see them more often.

8 Years Old

Silas picked for us all to eat out at Texas Roadhouse on his birthday.  He was excited about his choice...the food, dancing with the waitresses, and sitting on the saddle for everyone in the restaurant to see and wish him a big "Happy Birthday"!

As soon as the dancing music came on he got right out of his seat and out into the middle of the aisles with the waitresses.  He danced the whole line dance with them.
And, he was all smiles when he sat on the saddle and everyone yelled out loudly, "Happy Birthday!"

After dinner, we came home and Silas opened his gifts from us and a few that he got in the mail from family.  He was super excited to get a new fishing rod and reel of his own!
Phoebe gave him some baseball cards, a cd, and a fishing lure.
Silas had been telling me that he would really like to have a cross and chain like Daddy has... I managed to find one that was a little smaller and when he opened it he was so happy!  He couldn't wait to put it on.
Sarah gave him some football cards, a fishing lure, and a perler bead kit.
He got a few other things from us, clothes, sunglasses, and some baseball card pages and a new binder.
He had requested an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen.
Happy 8th Birthday to our sweet, growing up so fast, boy!
A few days later we went to Popee and Nanee's house for a couple days.  He got some nice presents from them....clothes, Star Wars Perler bead kit, and a tackle box full of tackle!

He loved getting all the tackle out one at a time and looking at the lures hooks and tools, inspecting them, and talking to Popee about them, and trying to figure out what fish they would best catch.
