JANUARY
Basketball continued for all three of our kids. Silas and Phoebe had three games each in January and Sarah's season continued on into February.
One thing that I love about our home and how it is positioned on our land is our view of the beautiful Kansas sunrises and sunsets that we get to see so often. Below, is a beautiful sunrise we got to see one morning before the kids all had to go to school.
Phoebe and her friend Shawna had a fun time riding our go-kart together one afternoon in January.
At Phoebe's middle school they have "Go-Do-It" once a month. This is a fun time for students in good standing to pick a fun activity run by teachers in the school to participate in the last hour or so of the school day. Below, Phoebe and her friend Haylee and Shawna enjoyed spending time with the school's therapy/service dog, Groot, for January's "Go-Do-It".
FEBRUARY
Our church held a Valentines dinner, games, and speaker. They served delicious Italian food and dessert.

We had a few days of bitter cold temperatures and snow in January. The weather resulted in 3 snow days from school for teachers and students. The kids and I, along with some of our friends braved the cold one afternoon for sledding and snow fun.

EP and Jim safely delivered their chickens to our house. They did have a little wind and trailer mishap on the way when driving in western Kansas, but no one was hurt and all of the things on the trailer were recovered. We will take care of Lindsee and EP's chickens until they find a home to buy in Kansas.
Uncle EP and Lindsee helped us locate the electric scooter that Phoebe wanted for her birthday at a store in Denver. EP delivered it to her when he delivered the chickens.
It works great! Goes fast! And, is exactly what she had been wanting.
The kids have all been helpful chicken watchers and caretakers. Phoebe doesn't mind helping to feed and water them, and she loves to check for and gather the eggs. Silas doesn't mind helping to clean out the coop.
Phoebe's chicken challenge for the day was to see if she could catch and hold each chicken. She was able to do this pretty quickly.
Another big round of snow resulted in a family activity....snowman building at Popee and Nanee's house!
We were able to build a giant snowman in their front yard!

We celebrated Lindsee's 40th birthday together. She requested some at-home karaoke and delicious dessert.
Songs sung that night included, Ring of Fire, Sound of Silence, Islands In the Stream, Part of Your World, Fishin In the Dark, and Folsom Prison Blues.
Happy Birthday to my sweet sister. She is seriously the BEST sister I could ever have. She listens, loves and supports our three kids, is very compassionate, a good teammate, likes to win just as much as I do, one of the best people in the world to laugh with, and someone I know I can always have fun with no matter what we are doing. We share so many stories, memories, and secrets. I am so so very glad that she and her family have moved home to Kansas. I have looked forward to this happening for so so long. I can't wait to make many more memories together and to laugh together whenever we can.
Family time = Good times!

Eric was working outside by himself when all of a sudden he came rushing inside saying that he had injured himself... Blood running down his head and face and all in his hands... We got it cleaned up and took a closer look. I made a couple calls to some nurse/medical friends. No stitches were necessary, but I did need to cut his hair down close to the wound so that I could use some wound closure strips on the top of his head. (In his opinion, I may have cut a little too much and in the shape of a football.) So, the next day he wore a hat to work and then that evening had me cut all of his hair even shorter. (The wound has healed up nicely over the last couple weeks, and there were no signs of concussion.)
Silas got to get his braces off a couple weeks ago. He was so excited. He will get to take a break from orthodontics while we wait for the rest of the baby teeth to fall out and permanent teeth to come in and then we'll reevaluate if he needs some more ortho to correct his teeth, bite, and smile.
Our church youth group had an activity night and went roller skating together.
Sarah has had some great basketball fans throughout her first high school basketball season. Her last game, family and friends all showed up. Thank you for supporting Sarah and cheering her on this season...EP, Lindsee, Will, Jenny, Haylee, Gavin, Jason, Hannah, Noah, Nayte, Brynlee, Steve, Traci, Shawna, Popee, Nanee, Grandma Sharon, Mandy, Abigail, Laurie, and Hayley.
Lindsee, EP and Will came and spent a few days with us toward the end of February. They got to go to a basketball game with us and we just spent a lot of good time together.
Silas asked me for weeks to sign he and I up for Nerf Wars at our local recreation center... I messaged some other moms that I know to encourage them to sign up too. We participated and it was very fun! We all ate pizza and snacks and shot each other for two hours of Nerf War fun.

Phoebe made this human skeleton and body parts project as school. She did a wonderful job. She enjoys school and has done very well this year academically. Keep up the good work Phoebe!
