February Papers

These are two projects that Sarah completed at school and were hung in the hallway.
Sarah made this cute groundhog project for Groundhogs Day.  She and Phoebe had lots of fun at home making the groundhog pop up out of the cup.
Sarah worked on the letters r through v this month.  She also likes to write her name in rainbow colors.  Notice on some of her papers how she has written each letter in a different color.
She is getting good at counting objects and identifying numbers.
Sarah enjoyed a Valentine's Day party and card exchange with her classmates this month.  One parent was in charge of the party and had the class play a fun little word game.... She had all of the students names in a heart-shaped candy box.  She would take one out at a time and the class would all sing/say together..."I wish  I had a little red box to put my (name of student here) Sarah in.  I'd take her out and (kissing sounds here three times) and put her in again."   Very cute and each kid enjoyed their name being put into the song.

The Bible verse of the month was "Hear the word of God and obey it." Luke 11:28

Denver For Her 30th

Over the weekend I took a little trip to Denver to visit my sister.  She turned 30 on Saturday. It was a total surprise to her... I flew in Friday and EP picked me up from the airport.  We drove to their house, where I went to the door and rang the doorbell... She answered, she was surprised, we hugged, she cried, we laughed.

Saturday morning we got up and got dressed like we were going to go snow skiing, but really we were going snowshoeing.  We drove up into the mountains to a snowshoe trail, met a bunch of friends and dogs and started our hike.  IT WAS HARD WORK, especially if you are out of shape, not used to the high altitude, and pregnant!  EP is hands down the best and fastest snowshoe person I know.  He and the dogs made it look effortless... like they were out for a Saturday stroll.  It was fun though.  The mountains surrounding us were beautiful, and I really enjoyed my hiking time with my sister and our friend Amelia.
We ate dinner with twenty-five of Lindsee's closest friends at one of her favorite family owned and run Mexican restaurants.  I found Birthday Cake Oreos at the grocery store and took them to the restaurant with us.  Each of us got to enjoy one after we sung "Happy Birthday" to the birthday girl.
Then on we all went to our final birthday stop of the day... The Grizzly Rose, a very big country bar.  Complete with large wooden dance floor, a band, and dueling bull rides for all patrons willing to try for the eight second ride, or just hang on long enough to beat their friend on the opposing bull.

Rollin' down a long highway, out through New Mexico
Driftin' down to Santa Fe, to ride a bull in a rodeo
He's hooked on a feelin', addicted to a natural high
Don't know why it's appealin', all he knows is he's got to ride

He's addicted to danger, ruled by passion and pride
To pain and fear, he's no stranger, but his lust needs to be satisfied
Hooked on an 8 second ride
Gettin' up down in back of the chutes, makes that resin burn
He's got his spurs on the heels of his boots
He's at the point of no return

Climbin' over that chute gate, he settles down inside
The tension's risin' but he can't wait
'Til they turn that bull outside
He's addicted to danger
Ruled by passion and pride
To pain and fear he's no stranger
But his lust needs to be satisfied
Hooked on an 8 second ride
Hooked on an 8 second ride

Happy 30th Birthday dear Lindsee.  I had a lot of fun with you, EP, and your friends.  I liked the futon, the warm shower after snowshoeing and my dinner at Tokyo Joe's, along with many other things.  I still wish I could have ridden the bull too... next time.  I love you and the fun we have together no matter what we are doing or where we are.  I love our ability to laugh together over so many things.  You are the best sister!

January Papers

Sarah's class held a Hibernation Day early in January.  Each child could wear their pajamas to school if they wanted to, and were asked to bring a blanket and a flashlight with them that day to school.  They set their blankets out in a room together, read stories with their flashlights, talked about the word hibernation, and got to go on a bear hunt!
Sarah's class worked on the letters n, o, p, and q this month.  They continued learning to write and recognize numbers.

Sarah got to sing with a small group of children that go to her school during a church service for "Preschool Sunday".  After the service the school held a chicken noodle lunch fundraiser for the preschool.  (Sarah is in the back row, wearing a purple polka-dot dress, standing next to a girl wearing bright blue.)
This was a large felt mitten project that Sarah's class worked on to go along with the story, "The Mitten", by Jan Brett.  All of the animals fit down inside the white mitten.
Sarah got to be the calendar helper and the prayer helper this month.  When it was her turn to be the prayer helper she got to say a prayer aloud at chapel time in front of all of the preschool classes.  She told me that she said, "I hope my mommy and daddy have a good baby and I hope it is a girl.  Amen. "  She also told me that she said it so that everyone could hear it.
Sarah participated in the Trike-A-Thon to help raise money for St. Jude Hospital.  She had a great time riding her bike with her friends at school.

Sarah's Bible verse for January was, "The Lord is my helper I will not be afraid."  Hebrews 13:6
