April

We all worked hard to dig a trench for running electrical line to Eric's new shop.
I looked out the window one moring to see a duck on top of the chicken coop.
Lindsee and Will got to go with us to watch Sarah play softball in Hutchinson.
She hit a triple that night!
Friends joined us for our church's Palm Sunday service.
Lucy has been laying on the arm of our couch a lot in the mornings for naps.
We got to watch Will play in one of his soccer games.  His team won and he scored one goal.
Below, Will's soccer fans of the day: Jim, Patti, EP, Paul, Stacee, Phoebe, Sarah, Will, and Gloria.  Not pictured, is Lindsee.

After church on Easter Sunday we drove to my cousin Josh's in Hesston.  There we had a big traditional Hastings Easter get-together, including lunch, an egg hunt, and a big wiffleball game.  This time we divided up, Boys against Girls.
Pictured below, after our wiffleball game, left to right, Jim, EP, Stacee, Owen, Drew, Natasha, Will, Silas, Jordan, Jan, Eric, Sarah, Chris, Phoebe, Johannah, Lindsee, and Josh.

Phoebe completed this science project pictured below.  She did well and got a great grade on it, A+.
We took a fast trip to Concordia, Missouri to help celebrate Eric's grandma, Dorothy's 90th birthday.  We ate a delicious breakfast prepared by his Aunt Karen and got to visit with relatives all morning.
Below, Eric and I, Dorothy, and Eric's cousin Nate with his wife Kara.

When we left Concordia that day we drove straight back home and to the big Hutton Block Party!  It is a fun family event held every year for Hutton employees and their families.  This year the first thing happening was cardboard boat races.  We really wanted to be there in plenty of time so that we could see Eric's good friends, (a father and son duo) Roby and Cameron race the boat they had constructed.  We made it just in time and got to see Roby and Cameron win it all!  After the races we helped construct a big Hutton Lego project, there was face painting, ate dinner from food trucks, and listened to comedian, Michael Jr, entertain all who were there.
Phoebe had a final Social Studies project to complete...a Hanging Garden.  Again, she put a lot of effort into this project and did very well!
EP and Lindsee made it to another one of Sarah's softball games.  She is so happy to have them in the stands cheering her on.
Silas and his class worked on break-out boxes one day in class.
Sarah does not help much with the chickens.  She doesn't like them a whole lot, but her favorite chicken is Elsa.  She managed to pick her up one day for a quick picture.

Sarah 2022 Softball Season

Sarah made the high school JV softball team.  Try-outs were held immediately following basketball season and she jumped right in, one sport to the other.  We are so pleased with how well she has done this year!  As a freshman at a 6A school, she has worked hard all year.  Her determination, coupled with her athletic abilities and kind heart have helped establish her as a three-sport athlete at her school.  She played well all season for the JV team.  Previously she had played a lot of pitcher and short-stop.  This season she played some short-stop and a lot of left field.  She played smart, stopped and caught balls in whichever position she was assigned.  She hit well too, hitting two amazing triples in two different games to help her team to victory.  I love to watch her play softball.  She has never been scared of the ball in the field or at the plate, even after getting hit by it lots of times, she gets right back in the saddle.  She is tough and game smart.  Great job, Sarah!
Below, are pictures from all of her games this season, in no particular order. Thank you to friends and family members who came to watch and support her throughout this softball season.

Popee and Nanee made it to a few of Sarah's games this season.  They showed their support on game days even when they couldn't be there by wearing their Campus Colts Softball shirts and texting us pictures of themselves.
After games, Sarah always enjoys the hugs from her fans and the words of praise and encouragement.
