Spring Break Trip 2024

In March of 2020, we had planned a family vacation to St. Louis and then to Kentucky.  Our trip was cut short due to Covid shutdowns.  So, we did the same trip (minus going to the Louisville bat museum) for this spring break.
Friday, March 8th - Drive to St. Louis (Olive Garden)
We arrived late in the evening and ate at the Olive Garden near our hotel.

Saturday, March 9th - St. Louis (City Museum, shopping, Red Robin)
If you ever vacation in St. Louis, I highly advise you to check out the City Museum.
It was great for kids and for adults who want to do kids stuff, like myself.  There are four floors plus the roof.
We started off with a lot of climbing and going through tunnels.  I was very impressed.
There were games and Guinness book of world record items.
There was an aquarium and a tank where fish would come and suck on your hand. Silas thought these fish were cool.
The outside climbing and sliding was intense.  Below, Phoebe and I were going through this tunnel five stories in the air. Stacee, Sarah, and Silas all watched from below.
Fun slides......heights and drop-offs make Silas nervous.
This was a tunnel up on the roof (pictures below).  You walked up, inside the cage, of the 3-story tunnel and the slide was right below it (inside a cage as well).
There was an area with lots of different lizards.
We paid an extra $8/ticket for three of us to go to the roof, but we all ended up being able to go to the roof.  When we go again, we likely will not pay for the roof upgrade.  Not to say it wasn't cool.
Below, this old bus hung out past the roof of the building and you could sit in the drivers seat.
There was also a Ferris wheel on the roof.  Sarah and I got some great pictures of St. Louis.
The fourth floor was the only true museum part.  There was some architectural items I found very cool, but didn't peak the interest of the rest of the family.
Next time we go to St. Louis, we will do this again. Two thumbs up! Highly recommend.
After we left the City Museum, we drove around downtown St. Louis. Then we drove back to the area where our hotel was located and did some shopping and ate dinner at a Red Robin restaurant.

Sunday, March 10th - St. Louis and drive to Cincinatti (St. Louis Zoo, more driving, bad hotel, and Chili's)
Sunday morning we went to the Saint Louis Zoo for a few hours before heading out to Cincinatti.
The Penguin and Polar Bear exhibits were two of our family favorites.
I booked a Suite at the Microtel in Cincinatti online for that night and the following night.  The pictures looked great online.  Unfortunately, the pictures were misleading.  It didn't take long, and a very brief look around, before we asked for our money back and looked for a better place to stay.  We then got a motel room at the Days Inn. I'm glad we can laugh about it now.

Monday, March 11th - Creation Museum, downtown Cincinatti, shopping, Chipotle
When we made the trip in 2020, we only had one day to go to the Ark and didn't get to go to the Creation Museum. At that time in 2020 Covid was hitting and everything was shutting down. So, we had planned to take this trip again.  This was the Spring Break trip for the redo...
I could sit and read these displays for hours.
I like how they contrasted the different worldviews.
Everyone should ask themselves this question?  Put life into perspective.  Are you an accident or were you created for a purpose?
I have a Biblical Worldview, so I have a hope (blessed assurance) that I will live for eternity after I die.  If I am wrong and the Bible was not true, my life will end the same as those who don't believe in God.  If I am right and the Bible is true, I am pained for those who don't believe.
The believer and unbeliever can both be wrong but we can't both be right.  If I am wrong, what harm has it done?  I will have the same fate as the unbeliever.  If the unbeliever is wrong, there is no hope and an eternity in Hell awaits.
For those who try to reconcile being a Christian and believing in an old earth, please study the word, YOM.  It means a 24 hour period.
The 7 C's of History.  I enjoy teaching this.
Jesus is the great, I AM.
A relationship with Jesus Christ is what saves a person.  If you don't want to have a relationship with Jesus here on Earth, why would you want to have everlasting life with him in Heaven?
We had a family 4D cinema experience.
Silas enjoyed watching the different fish in the big aquarium at the Creation Museum.
At one point in American history, slavery was legal.  I am thankful the people realized it was wrong and abolished it.  I hope the people have an epiphany and realize that killing a baby is wrong and abolish abortion.
Some powerful teaching is found at the Creation Museum.
After leaving the museum, we drove around downtown Cincinnati.
That night we had Chipotle burritos and bowls for dinner.

Tuesday, March 12th - The Ark Encounter and LOTS of driving
We were able to go to the Ark in 2020.  We also met Kirk Cameron when we left the Ark in 2020.
There wasn't as much to read at the Ark, but there was plenty.  There are also some impressive displays, and presentations, and the Ark itself is AMAZING. Because we had been here before, we were able to go a little faster through it this time around. It was still just as impressive as the first time we visited.
Noah's Ark only had one door to enter.   Jesus said, "I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved".  He is the only Way.
The Ark Encounter has stuff to do outside.  They have a large playground, a small zoo, a petting zoo, and a ropes course.
Can YOU make THIS FACE? Yep. We nailed it.
They also have a carousel with all sorts of animals and dinosaurs to take a ride on.
It's not everyday that you can take a ride on a brontosaurus with your wife.
Stacee and I made sure to wave, obnoxiously, at Sarah every time our brontosaurus circled around and went past her..... She took our picture the first couple times we went past her, but then started to ignore us and pretend she didn't know us.
The rainbow is God's promise to mankind.
We left the Ark Encounter around 5pm.  We were going to drive and stay overnight in St. Louis.  I was feeling good behind the wheel and decided to drive all the way to Emporia.  We made it to Paul's (my father-in-law) house around 3am.  It was a great vacation.
