Youth Horizons Christmas Concert

On Tuesday, December 2nd, Stacee and I, along with a few friends, went to the Youth Horizon's Benefit Christmas Concert at the Abode Venue.

Earnest Alexander, the big kahuna (President) of Youth Horizons sang with Friend's University Jazz Musicians and Vocalists led by Lisa Hittle and Craig Curry.

JD (and his wife, Ronette) and Carl were able to make it.  We had a great time listening to Christmas music and hearing more about the Youth Horizon's program and the Kinloch Price Boy's Ranch where I am a mentor.

Stacee and JD's wife Ronette enjoyed the show.

Here we are with the star of the night, Josh.  All the young men from the Ranch did a great job of seating people and representing Youth Horizons.  We are thankful that the Youth Horizon's Christmas program was a big success.

Birthday Questions

What kind of treats did you take to school to share with your friends for your birthday?
Phoebe: "powdered doughnuts and juice"

Where did you get the yellow Happy Birthday crown?
Phoebe: "A teacher made it for me. The kids sang happy birthday."

Where did we all go to eat and play on your birthday?

Phoebe: "Chik-fil-A"

What are some of the gifts that you got for your birthday?
Phoebe: "Doc McStuffins gifts, and a headband that we can make, and a bracelet that we can make. An Ariel jacket. Clothes."

Did Silas and Sarah give you gifts?  What were they?
Phoebe: "Yeah.  Doc McStuffins toys."

Before we went out to eat on your birthday, we went to the Zoo,  Because we went on your birthday Daddy let you pick out something special from the gift shop.  What did you pick?
Phoebe: "A Tiger. He roars and we can put our hand in it and squeeze and it roars again. He's a puppet.  He's soft.  He has yellow eyes and he has stripes on his head and stripes on his feet."

What special dessert did we all eat on your birthday?
Phoebe: "Ice cream with chocolate and only one cherry and a candle for me to blow out."

You and your doll look super cute in these matching outfits you got for your birthday!  Who gave them to you?

Phoebe: "Aunt Judy.  Me: "Nope." Phoebe: "Ummm, Grandma Sharon!"

What is it like to be 5 years old?

Phoebe: "I can be a kid.  This is a hard one. I can karate chop better on Daddy.  I can fight better."

The Doc Is In

Phoebe choose to have a Doc McStuffins themed birthday party this year.  She wanted the cake to be marble and have Doc McStuffins decorations.  I ordered her cake from Wal-Mart.

Doc McStuffins is a show on Disney Junior.  Doc wants to become a Doctor like her mother.  She fixes broken toys in her backyard playhouse clinic with the help of her friends Hallie the Hippo, Lambie the Lamb, Chilly the Snowman, and Stuffy the Dragon.

Phoebe wanted to play a game at her party, so we played put the band-aid on Stuffy's boo-boo.

Phoebe went first....

Sarah put her band-aid on Lambie.

Silas put his band-aid on top of Sarah's band-aid.

Wyonna almost put her band-aid on the wooden door instead of on the poster.

These two below masked up and gave it a try too.

Opening her gifts... She got a lot of great Doc McStuffins gear! 

Then Doc McPhoebe got right to work giving check-ups to stuffed animals and fixing toys.

A Shocker Game

We got to go to the Wichita State Men's basketball game on November 14th at Charles Koch Arena.  It was a sold-out crowd.  We had some great seats and an up-close place to park.  Thank you HC for sharing these with our family!  The fans were into the game the entire time.  We got to see some great basketball being played and some amazing dunks!

We weren't sure how Silas would like the game and if he would behave.  Thankfully he was good the whole time!  He was really into watching the "big Shocker" mascot, and was on the look out for him almost the whole game.  He wanted to meet Wu (the mascot) very badly, but unfortunately we never were close enough to him to "meet" him.  We just waved and yelled at Wu from our seats, then looked for him after the game, but could not find him.

The WSU Shockers won the game that night!  When the game was over we hung around a bit and the girls got to meet and take a picture with some of the WSU cheerleaders.
