Phoebe Games 1 & 2

Game #1 - Thursday, May 17th, 8pm - Against Haysville team 2

Our first machine softball game.  I was certain our girls were ready and they were.

Phoebe hit the ball great going 3-3.  She had one hard line drive that went all the way to third base.  Glad we did all those push ups during the preseason.

Phoebe played 1st base, 2nd base, shortstop, and left field.  She threw a girl out at first when she was playing second.

Coach BJ and Coach Kris couldn't make it so I asked a few parents to help.  Thanks Rob and Steve.  You did a great job.

It was fun congratulating the girls tonight.  They all played hard with great attitudes.  They were hitting machines.

It was the last day of school today.  Phoebe's teacher came to watch.  What a great teacher!

Popee and Nanee came to watch.  They got to see Sarah and Phoebe play tonight.

Game 2 - Friday, May 18th, 6pm - Against Mulvane team 3

Our teams pitching machine is not the best.  It is to be set on setting #4, but I had it set on #6 because on #4 it throws lob balls.  At setting #6, it throws a great ball.  I was hoping no opposing coaches this season would make an issue of it, but the Mulvane coach did.

I set the machine to 4 and the lack of hitting began.  I was able to throw strikes but the lob balls were difficult to hit.

Phoebe played an inning at first base.  She also played third, pitcher, and outfield.

We won the game 2-0.  At the end of the game, the Mulvane coach let me know how bad of machine we have.  I agreed with him.  The HAC which runs the league installed a new spring and new guides after the game.  Hopefully it works better now.

Coach BJ was able to make it tonight.  It was a bad night for pitching machines because his broke right before he came to the game.  We will look to improve our hitting for the next game.

Silas Games 1, 2, & 3

Game #1 - Monday, May 7th

Silas got to play pitcher position two times tonight.  It is his favorite position to play right now.  He gets a lot of action there and does a great job being ready for the ball.

He also played 1st base.

Good game!

I went to a funeral that day and was able to make it back for the last couple innings.  I really looked like a coach for our first game.  Uncle Bret got to see Silas play too.

Game #2 - Thursday, May 10th

Silas is one of the harder hitters on the team.  He had a good hit to the outfield.  Normally kids just get to go to first base.  But, if you hit it past the outfielder you get to go to second, which Silas did. 

Don't know why Silas insists on wearing this oversized hat.

I guess he is striding out.

He played outfield, 1st base, and pitcher.

Popee and Nanee got to come to this game and cheer Silas on with Stacee and the girls.

Game #3 - Thursday, May 17th
Unfortunately Silas couldn't be at this game due to a schedule conflict.  He had his end of the year preschool program and graduation.  I was able to coach for about 25 minutes before going over to coach Phoebe's game that night.

Now that our boys are old enough, Coach DJ and I are coaching TBall together this year. 

We have a good group of kids and a few familiar faces, like our friend, Abigail.

The kids for the most part listen well and try hard.

Silas is very energetic and goes 100mph all the time.  He is hitting and fielding well.

GO THUNDER!

Coach Kris, Coach BJ, and I are coaching 8U machine pitch softball together again this year.

For the most part, we have the same girls from last year's team.  Our new faces include Abigail, Shawna, Sophia, and Shae.

Push ups make the girls stronger so we have them do some each practice.  The coaches also lead by example and do them too.

I am excited for this year's team.

GO LIGHTNING!

This will be the first year that I am not coaching Sarah.  I do miss coaching her but coaching 3 teams is just not possible.

Sarah has taken a liking to pitching.  I can't help much with instruction on this but Coach Kris has helped some.

I hope she can become consistent with her location because she definitely has the arm talent to pitch.  Keep practicing Sarah.
