I had heard from a friend at church that there was a new cake mix out at the store... Pink Lemonade! I really wanted to try it. (I admit, I am all about desserts right now. Yes, there I said it. This pregnant lady is all about dessert. I know I am not the first, and will not be the last. Eric identified, outloud, this downfall of sorts for me about two months ago. How kind of him, huh?)
Anyway,I finally made it to Wal-Mart and remembered to look for the mix. There it was on the end of the aisle... I think it was about $1.50 for the box. There is also Pink Lemonade frosting, but we did not try that. We just used a plain pink frosting on our cake.
It turned out to be yummy. I did not doubt that it would be. I do like cake, a lot, all kinds of cake, but that is beside the point right now. I would recommend trying the Pink Lemonade cake mix. Hendrickson family gives it two thumbs up!

A Fun Weekend
The girls and I headed to my parents last weekend and Eric headed south to his friend, Ryan's house, for some fishing. We all had lots of fun.
We went to the Emporia Zoo. We watched the Prairie Dogs for a long time. They were eating and running, and digging, and jumping, and squeaking... and playing with Box Turtles....
The girls both enjoyed the new play area at the zoo.
Measuring their wing span....
There was some cooking with Popee and riding the train at the park with Popee...
And, there was lots playing out in the backyard in the water!
For the weak stomachs... LOOK AWAY now.... Below are three fish heads, from Eric's fishing trip. He caught these three big fish...three Flatheads 23 lbs, 29 lbs, and 38 lbs, along with lots of other smaller Bluecats and Channel Cats.
Lastly, we had some Father's Day cards and dessert!
Happy Father's Day to the two best Dad's that I know!

Father's Day
Each Father's Day the girls help me make a "Happy Father's Day" sign and we take a picture with it.... and add it to our Father's Day collage frame. It is fun to look at the collage of pictures and how the girls have grown, smile or don't smile, the background, the differently decorated sign....
This year the picture was a little easier to take, a little. Next year will be a new challenge with the girls and a baby... but what a fun challenge!
Happy 6th Father's Day Eric! We love you so much!

No Training Wheels
She can do it! Twice. Twice we have taken Sarah out to an open field area where Eric has helped her get started on her bike with no training wheels... She has been successful on both occasions!
She just takes off balancing and pedaling as fast as her legs can go, usually with a big smile on her face.
Eric jogs along behind her just in case she falls over... He is there to catch her, or pick her up off the ground.
Go Sarah Go!
Way to go sweet girl! You are growing and learning everyday. We are happy to see you having fun and accomplishing new things. It is going to be a great summer!

Sunglasses
Phoebe has a new pair of sunglasses that she likes to wear when we are driving somewhere. She always tries to put them on herself... Very rarely does she get them on right-side up and straight. This time she had them on straight, but upside-down. (So Cute!) She rode like that for twenty minutes to the store...
Thank you God, for this little girl who can make me smile everyday.

Family Fun~Olpe Style~Memorial Day Weekend
We had a good time in Olpe last weekend with Eric's family. We got to spend time with his Mom, Aunts, Uncles, Grandma, and lots of cousins. Sarah and Phoebe had fun playing with their little cousins Eli and Harlee.
Sarah and Harlee spent lots of time running, climbing, finding treasures and catching butterflies and moths.... Until on Monday when Sarah was stung by a bee for the first time... OUCH! She didn't cry for too long. But, kept telling us through the tears "a bee bit me, a bee bit me". This was her first bee sting and we are thankful that she had no allergic reactions to it. She also managed to fall on the concrete and skin both of her knees up.
Phoebe liked swinging and climbing on the playground equipment, picking up pine cones, playing in the dirt and rocks and following the older girls around.
We spent time at the park on Sunday with lots of family and extended family, visiting, eating and playing games. The little cousins all took a break to relax and rest together Sunday evening. We spread the sleeping bag, pillows and blanket out and they watched "Tangled".
These are the grave stones of Eric's Grandpa George Bowers and his Great-Grandparents Norbert and Loretta Schmidt (Norbert and Loretta were Marvin, Dorthy and Nene's parents) all buried in the St. Joseph's Cemetery in Olpe.
Memorial Day, Monday, was a hot day. Sarah, Phoebe and Harlee spent time playing in the sprinkler at Grandma Great's house. Phoebe was the bravest going in first and getting sprayed over and over. Finally Sarah and Harlee started to follow Phoebe running, jumping over the sprinkler, and letting the water spray and cool them off.
