Family Fun~Olpe Style~Memorial Day Weekend

We had a good time in Olpe last weekend with Eric's family.  We got to spend time with his Mom, Aunts, Uncles, Grandma, and lots of cousins.  Sarah and Phoebe had fun playing with their little cousins Eli and Harlee.

Sarah and Harlee spent lots of time running, climbing, finding treasures and catching butterflies and moths.... Until on Monday when Sarah was stung by a bee for the first time... OUCH!  She didn't cry for too long.  But, kept telling us through the tears "a bee bit me, a bee bit me".  This was her first bee sting and we are thankful  that she had no allergic reactions to it.  She also managed to fall on the concrete and skin both of her knees up.
Phoebe liked swinging and climbing on the playground equipment, picking up pine cones, playing in the dirt and rocks and following the older girls around.
We spent time at the park on Sunday with lots of family and extended family, visiting, eating and playing games.
We celebrated three birthdays... pictured left to right is Eric's Great Aunt Shirleen (Nene), Eric's Grandma Dorothy, and Eric's Great Uncle Marvin (Siblings).  They grew up in Olpe and it was good to get together with them and their children and grandchildren.  (Grandma Dorothy is also known to our girls as Grandma Great)
The little cousins all took a break to relax and rest together Sunday evening.  We spread the sleeping bag, pillows and blanket out and they watched "Tangled".
These are the grave stones of Eric's Grandpa George Bowers and his Great-Grandparents Norbert and Loretta Schmidt (Norbert and Loretta were Marvin, Dorthy and Nene's parents) all buried in the St. Joseph's Cemetery in Olpe.
Memorial Day, Monday, was a hot day.  Sarah, Phoebe and Harlee spent time playing in the sprinkler at Grandma Great's house.  Phoebe was the bravest going in first and getting sprayed over and over.  Finally Sarah and Harlee started to follow Phoebe running, jumping over the sprinkler, and letting the water spray and cool them off.
Grandma Great is pictured here with her three Great Granddaughters, Phoebe, Sarah and Harlee.  She also has three Great Grandsons, Ayden, Archer, and Eli.  Two more Great Grandchildren will be added this summer to her list, one from us and one from Eric's cousin Patrick and his wife Anne, bringing the Great Grandchildren total to eight.
Dorothy and her children: pictured left to right, Sharon, Tom, Dorothy, Carla, and Karen.
Sharon and Karen are the oldest (twins), then Tom, and the youngest is Carla.
