Gymnastics

Since watching the gymnastics in the Olympics this past Summer, we have a budding gymnast on our hands!  If you have been around Sarah anytime in the past three months, you have probably been shown some of her gymnastics...  She taught herself to do beautiful, and graceful, kart-wheels, one-handed kart wheels, and hand stands.

So, for the month of October we signed her up for a gymnastics class.  She loved it!  She had a yellow skillbook, called "I Can Do Gymnastics", which has all kinds of things to learn in it.  The teachers, along with the book, taught stretches, floor/mat, low balance beam, mini trampoline, vaulting, single bar, and parallel bars. After learning to do each thing in the book, the teacher signs off on them.  Students earned stickers for attendance and ribbons when so many things get signed off in their books.  Sarah earned her first yellow ribbon on her third night of gymnastics class.  Eric and I watched Sarah at each gymnastics session.  After Sarah completed a good kart wheel, flip or roll she would look at us and her teachers, to see if we all were watching her, with a great big smile painted across her face!

My parents got her a gymnastics warm-up outfit and matching leotard.  She really liked it!  I gave her the option of wearing her pants over the leotard if she wanted for class..... She replied, that she would just wear the "leotar" because that was what the girls on tv had worn.  She was referring to the girls that she watched on tv in the Olympics.
Here are a few pictures from the last night of gymnastics.... bridges and stretching
single bar and parallel bars
vaulting
and kart wheels!
