K-S-U Basketball

Date night with my husband!  Yay!!! The KSU Wildcat Men's Basketball team played Gonzaga about a week ago here, and we had some great seats to watch some great players play an exciting and great game! It was GREAT!  I love dates with my husband.  I love to watch basketball.  And, I love the Wildcats.
Tip-off.  Eric's favorite player this year is Gibson.  My favorite player is Southwell.  (Southwell looks a little like Will Smith, which makes me like him even more.)
Offense! Eat'em up, Eat'em up, KSU!
The band played some of my favorite songs... The K-State fight song and the Wabash Canon Ball.... over and over... I was so happy!
Then there were these few crazy fans that made me giggle.  A person wearing a horse head mask sitting in the KSU student section.  He was by far the best dancing horse I have ever seen.  And, then there were these four guys wearing light up Christmas sweaters.  Oh yes they were... most likely trying to get onto the big screen, or the 6:00 news, before they left the game and headed to an ugly Christmas sweater party.
The final score was K-State 72 - GU 62.  We won!  Yippie!

December Schoolwork

December went by quickly.  Sarah had lots of fun at school learning and completing Christmas projects with her friends.  She missed one day of school because of Strep Throat (for the second time in one month).
Sarah did some small research projects with her class in December about Polar Bears and Reindeer.
Sarah got to go on a "Limo Lunch" this month as a reward for selling 30 items or more in her school fundraiser back in September.  She was the only first grader to reach this goal!  And, one of only six students in the whole school who reached this goal!  She also got to participate in a "Big Bash" party and a "Money Grab" for reaching the goal.  Thank you to everyone who bought something from her and supported her and her elementary school.
Me: Where you excited to ride in the Limo?
Sarah: "Kinda. I liked it actually."
Me: What was the Limo like on the outside? What was it like on the inside?
Sarah: "There was windows.  It looked like a wiener dog." "There was a sparkly globe that you dance under and there was microphones to sing with.  We sang Hakuna Matata. (from the Lion King). There was black carpet with stars on it.  The seats were cusiony and black."
Me: Who else got to ride in the Limo with you?
Sarah: "Some little boys and one big boy and the principal and the limo driver."
Me: Where did the Limo take you?
Sarah: "To McDonald's for hamburgers."
Me: Would you like to ride in a Limo again sometime?  Where else would you like a Limo to take you?
Sarah: "Yes. To the place where Phoebe went to her birthday and it had a play place thing."
On the last day of school before Christmas break the first grade classes did a literary performance.  Each of the three reading classes read or sang a Christmas poem or song.  Sarah's group did a version of the Night Before Christmas.  Sarah had about several lines to read/say.  She was a little nervous and spoke softly, but read her lines well.  Following the performance they had an all school Christmas sing-a-long then classroom parties.
Me: What did your group do in the performance?
Sarah: "Twas the Night Before Christmas and I said some lines."
Me: What was your favorite part of the last day of school before Christmas break?
Sarah: "The party.  Because we got to eat and make a reindeer."

Snow Much Fun

A few days before Christmas we got about four inches of snow.  It came over a weekend so the girls and Silas had a lot of fun with Daddy playing and sledding in the cold.
Silas's sled has a little strap to hold him in and a rope on the front that Eric used to hold the sled back as it raced down the little hill near our house.  Silas seemed to like sledding.  His facial expressions in the pictures are pretty funny.  The snow was obviously spraying up into his face as the sled went down the hill.
Both girls liked sledding on the saucer sleds!
Sarah especially enjoyed laying down in the snow, making snow angels, and throwing snow up into the air.
We were all thankful for the snow and a WHITE CHRISTMAS!

Happy Birthday A Little Early and Today

Happy Birthday to my Mom today!  Yay! We got to celebrate with her a few days ago at our house when she and Dad came to town to help out with Sarah's school classroom Christmas party.

We had Chinese food for dinner.  Next Sarah gave a little "Happy Birthday Nanee" speech.  Then we had cake.  Phoebe helped me pick out this red velvet cake for Nanee.  I thought we should go with a German chocolate cake, but Phoebe insisted on the red velvet.  It was delicious!  (Good choice, kiddo.)
While we sang "Happy Birthday" Nanee held onto Silas's hand.  He kept trying to be sneaky and put it into the icing on the cake. (You were not quite sneaky enough big boy, maybe next year.)
Looking at her card that Sarah made for her... She drew her some mountains with herself and Nanee hiking up them.  She drew herself behind Nanee going up the mountain.... that way, she said, if Nanee fell, she could catch her.  (How thoughtful.)
Opening her gift... I found this special scripture sign for my Mom.  It has a very meaningful scripture on it... Romans 8:28.  This was my grandma's favorite verse.  (Georganna Grant, my Mom's Mom)
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28
Happy Birthday, Mom!  I love you so much.
