In November Eric and I took a three day trip to Branson, Missouri, to celebrate being married for TEN YEARS! (Neither of us had ever been to Branson for the Christmas season and shows.) My parents agreed to come and stay with our kids while we were away, and we were off!
The first night we were there we went to the Baldknobbers Jamboree Christmas show. It was alright. I was not super impressed by this show. The performers lacked enthusiasm, and some seemed to be almost bored or annoyed that they had to be there. It was a nice evening spent with my adoring husband, but we would not recommend this show.
We spent the next day at Silver Dollar City. Right off that day we ran into my cousin, Josh and his kids waiting to watch the Saloon Show. So, we joined them to watch it too. It was a high energy, short show, with great performers, as are most of Silver Dollar City's shows.
Next we all rode the new roller coaster called "Outlaw Run" together. This may be the BEST roller coaster that Eric and I have ever ridden! It was voted BEST NEW RIDE of 2013 WORLDWIDE by Amusement Today! And, this wooden coaster also ranks as #7 on the list of the World's Top 50 wood coasters!
From there Eric and I headed to the entrance of Marvel Cave for a cave tour. The tour lasts a little over an hour and we walked down and up many stairs and through some small passages. It was very impressive inside this huge cave! To see more pictures and learn some of the cave history click on the following link and you will be directed to the Marvel Cave website.... We ate a great dinner inside Silver Dollar City at Molly's Mill Holiday Harvest Buffet, then we headed over to ride the train, ride some more roller coasters and the giant Barn Swing (in the dark), and watch a couple more Christmas and light shows together.
During the train ride the train stops about halfway through the ride and this old gentleman tells the REAL story of Christmas. It was very special.
The light parade is short, but includes Santa, and the Nativity.
This was a super fun day spent mostly with my hottie husband. Even when we started dating fourteen years ago, we always had FUN together. This day was a good reminder of the FUN he and I have and have always had when we are together. (I love this guy so much... He will ALWAYS have my heart.)
On our last day in Branson we went to the Bass Pro Shop on The Landing, did some window shopping, and.... went to a KENNY ROGERS concert! I grew up listening to Kenny Rogers music, had a roommate in college who loved Kenny's music just as much as I did, and Eric and I used one of Kenny's songs (There You Go Again) as our first dance song at our wedding dance. Needless to say I seemed to be way more excited to see Kenny then Eric was. I even emailed Kenny (like we are good friends or something, a couple weeks prior to the show to see if it might be possible to sing our special song for us live because it was our 10th anniversary, surely I thought, he would just love to do this for me, I mean us. I even envisioned getting called up on stage to share a special live dance to the special song... What a dreamer I am.) Anyway, when we arrived at the show I asked the lady and her husband, sitting behind us, if one of them could take our picture before the show started. This is where Eric rolled his eyes a little at me and started to make fun of me just a little because just maybe I had crossed into the crazy Kenny fan club or something like that....
Kenny is getting older, but his voice is still the same voice that I absolutely love. He sang a LOT of his greatest hits, but no "There You Go Again" (He must not have gotten my email. I should have made a large poster board sign to hold up during the concert.) It was still a good concert and another absolutely wonderful night with my amazing husband.
Thanks Eric, for the FUN 3-day getaway to Branson. I love you so much. Happy 10th anniversary to the perfect man for me!
There you go again. You take my breath away.
The way you look just then moves me more than words can say
Just about the time I think I couldn't love you any more, well then there you go again.
You're still amazing me, I shouldn't be surprised. You think I'd know by now, but you get me every time.
The love you give, your tender kisses, take me places I have never been... There you go again.
There you go, how'd you know? Sometimes it's like you almost read my mind. Just when I need you most, There you go again.
You know it's hard for me to tell you how I feel. I want you in my life and I always will. No one else can touch you when it comes to loving me the way you can, There you go again.
There you go again.
