Only three weeks of school left for Sarah, and then summer break. Wow, Kindergarten is flying by! Sarah continues to do very well in school. She learns quickly and likes to do well. She has become very competitive (just like Dad and Mom). In her classroom they play a game called "Around The World". I remember playing this when I was in elementary school too. Sarah finally made it around the world, winning the whole game a few weeks ago! To get all the way around the world she had to beat everyone in her class, saying a sight world out loud before each of them. Apparently there was one little girl who had been winning every time they got to play, and Sarah beat her too! She was so excited that day when I picked her up from school! Sarah has won several times since then, and likes to ask her teacher throughout the week, "Can we play around the world today?"
They have been talking about Spring things in her class... bugs/insects, weather, and flowers.
More number practice....
Reading comprehension and sentence writing practice....
Addition and subtraction....
Reading and spelling...
Sarah was tested on all of the Kindergarten sight words a week ago. She had been practicing reading them at home with Eric and I. She wanted to get them all right. Her teacher had promised a "prize" for anyone who could get them all correct. On the day of the test she was ready! When I picked her up after school she ran to me saying, "I got them all right! And, I got a chocolate prize. Rian and Emily also got them right and they both picked a sour prize." She was so happy. It is very rewarding to see her do well in school. What a exciting and happy moment for her and us!
Me: Do you like to do projects? What kind are your favorite?Sarah: "coloring pictures".
Me: What is your favorite thing about Spring time?
Sarah: "storms and playing outside more."
Sarah: "Mrs. ______ read the story to our whole class. Then we had to make a mask."
Me: The weather is starting to get nice and it is warming up outside. What do you like to do when it is warm outside?
Sarah: "Lots of things. Swimming, going to the park, riding bike, climb the tree, like to play with Dawson, play on swings."
Sarah has also started to read books on her own. This is very exciting for her and us. She even wanted to call Nanee the other day to read her a book over the phone. She seems to enjoy reading and is pleased with herself when she knows all the words and can sound out words herself.
