Our church held it's annual Ladies Salad Supper last Sunday evening. It started at 5:30 pm with a dinner... salad to be exact. Each lady brings a salad or dessert to share, then we have a speaker/program after dinner. My women's ministry team headed up the Salad Supper this year, so about a month ago I contacted my cousin, and Christian author, Stefne Miller, and asked her if she could come join us and be our speaker. She graciously said yes! Stefne and I share the same great-grandma, Vera Thompson Jarvis. Vera had four children - Ernest, Ruby, Bev, and Shirley. Ernest Grant was my mom's dad, my grandpa. Shirley was Stefne's mom, Jammye's, mom, making Shirley her grandma. (Are you confused yet?)
Stefne has three books published and is working on more. I have read all three, Salvaged, Rise, and Collision. Each one of these books drew me in and kept me up late at night reading. I just needed to find out how they would end. Written to take place in present day, they were each easy for me to follow and relate to. Stefne is a talented writer and speaker. She has been nominated for several awards and speaks on a regular basis to school groups, church youth groups, and women's groups. Her words are meaningful and powerful. I believe God is using her and her words to reach youth and women. Currently her book Collision is being made into a movie and the books Salvaged and Rise are being made into a TV mini-series.

My Dad stopped in to say Hi. He really wanted to stay and hear Stefne speak too, but I reminded him that it was a "Ladies" Salad Supper.
Here are just a few of the ladies in attendance filling their plates and eating. We had about 75 ladies come to the event.
Stefne's program title was "Dusted". In Dusted, Stefne shares her personal testimony and also tells the story of twelve boys who suffered rejection by many, only to end up being deemed "enough" and chosen by the ONE. Stefne reinforces and helps listeners realize that their worth and value comes from one - not the opinion of many, and the very fact that they are alive and a child of the Most High, gives them the qualification of not just "enough", but "perfect".
Thank you Stefne for coming! It was great to visit with you and I hope we can see each other again soon. We will be praying for you. I hope that God will continue to use you and your words to reach the lost, broken, and hurting. You are an amazing lady! God Bless You.
