While at Popee and Nanee's house in July, the girls both got to attend Vacation Bible School at their church. It lasted for four evenings. The last evening it was held at the zoo and park where they had a cook-out for the children and their families, free train rides, a zoo scavenger hunt, a learning and hands-on time at the zoo education center, and a short fellowship and closing time together at the end of the evening.
The theme was "Weird Animals ~ Where Jesus' Love Is One Of A Kind".
God filled the world with a lot of crazy creatures... including us! When kids feel weird, different, or even lost in a crowd - nothing compares to the extraordinary love of Jesus.

Below are a few of the weird animals that the leaders made to decorate the team's color themed stations. Very creative!
~ Day One ~
Bible Verse: "I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:20
The girls were given the VBS music CD a couple weeks before VBS started, so they had a jump start on learning all of the great songs that went along with the Weird Animals VBS.
~ Day Two ~
Bible Verse: "Do to others as you would like them to do to you." Luke 6:31
The special mission project this year for VBS was to provide clean water for children in India. For just $2.50, a child in India can have clean water for a year at school - plus a clean bathroom and a place to wash their hands everyday. When one of the children brought a donation, they got to add a blue or white balloon to the large drinking glass to help chart the progress of their mission project.
~ Day Three ~
Bible Verse: "God...loved us and sent his son as a sacrifice to take away our sins." 1 John 4:10
The girls really liked the games and craft projects that they got to do each evening.
~ Day Four ~
Bible Verse: "For we are God's masterpiece." Ephesians 2:10

Pictured below; Phoebe with our cousin Cindy, Children's Ministry Director and VBS Extraordinaire.
Silas and Phoebe had a lot of fun playing parachute games outside after dinner in the park on day four. Silas mostly just wanted to stand underneath it and smile at people all around him as the parachute went up and down.
Sarah walked around the zoo with Nanee and Popee working on the scavenger hunt.
All three kids liked the zoo education center, and got to touch an Armadillo, Hissing Cockroach, and a Bearded Dragon.
At the end of the evening there were popsicles for everyone! What a GREAT VBS! Both girls had fun each evening and learned new things.
"All around the world somethings going on about Jesus' love, it's amazing. He loves us all so much with a love so strong no one else could love us more. It's amazing!"
