My mom, Sharon, and brother, Marc, came to visit over the Labor Day weekend.
On Saturday morning, Marc and I set out on a 36 hole golfing adventure. I don't get out golfing much (this would only be the second time this year and I have only golfed a handful of times over the past 5 years), but my round earlier this year was my best ever so I was full of confidence.
Typically, I am a good iron striker. This day, not so much. Typically, I don't even pull out my driver. This day, I hit it better than I have since college.
Above was the shot of the day. This was the second shot on a par 4 from 120 yards out. Since I made the shot, I tapped it in for a birdie.
Marc is an all around good player. He smashes 300+ drives and hits nice arching iron shots. We had a goal of 2 over on 18 holes. The first 18 we shot a 5 over. On the second 18, we were 3 under after 10 holes and thought we would beat our 2 over goal. We ended up shooting a 5 over on this 18 also. 36 holes is a lot of golf and I think we got tired.
We headed to Grandma Greats (my Grandma) to visit and go fishing.
Marc never has fished much. I guess I forced it on him at a young age and he never liked it. However, he was very excited to catch some fish. Grandma Great hooked into the fish Marc is holding below and Marc reeled it in. It was a nice 8 pound channel cat.
Grandma Sharon and Silas are waiting on the fish to bite. Sarah doesn't have much patience when it comes to fishing.
Today was the first K-State football game. The game came on just as we were arriving in Olpe. We got to hear the first play of the game. A kickoff return for a touchdown. Good for a Wildcat, TOUCHDOWN!
The girls liked walking around the pond. Marc is fishing here off the dam.
Mother/Daughter time
Grandma Sharon catches a smaller channel.
She was even willing to hold it and pose for a picture. Good work Mom. Sarah, below, with the cat that loves to come see us when we go fishing at Grandma Great's pond.
Wish we would have caught more, but it was fun fishing with the family.
Before we left for home, we went across the street to the Olpe park. The bridge above has been there as long as I can remember.
You won't get me on the tire swing. Spinning gives me motion sickness. Sarah had fun giving Uncle Marc a ride on the tire swing though.
I think Sarah beat Marc to the top.
HOLD ON!
Below, left to right, Mike, Dorothy (my Grandma and the kids' Grandma Great), Sharon (my Mom) Sarah, Marc, Phoebe, me, and Silas.
Nice picture with the new water tower in the background.
I fried up some catfish and grilled some flathead for dinner. I also fried pickles at Stacee's request. It was good. Mom and Stacee made two new recipies from Stacee's new Miss Kay cookbook, cole slaw and sweet potato biscuits. Sarah and Mom made dessert, a cherry cheesecake.
Time for pictures before Mom and Marc headed back to Fort Worth.
Studly
Cute
Silas loves his Uncle Marc. He couldn't wait for him to get there and he didn't want to see him go.
It was great spending time with my mom and bro. We will see you at Christmas. God Bless You.
