Last Thursday I drove to Bella Vista, Arkansas to help my Aunt Judy kick of the 2015 North American Torquay Society's convention with an open house at her and Ernie's home. The evening was filled with visiting with old and new friends, looking at Judy's hundreds of Torquay pots, and a lovely BBQ dinner.
Judy has pots displayed throughout her home.
Even in the bathrooms!
It was great to see her telling her friends about her pots. It is one thing to say to someone, I have a pot like that, or to even show them a picture, but to be able to show your friends your WHOLE collection in person is something else. Especially when you have a spectacular collection!
Ernie found a spot to make himself taller and made the announcement that it was time to eat. He also added in that if anyone wanted to take a pot home, to just be sure and leave a donation on the way out tonight. I think Judy missed this announcement, but most of the guests heard him loud and clear. I wonder if she had precise pot count before the open house, and if a count was taken after the open house???
Dinner was great!
It was a little chilly outside (perfect fall weather), still most choose to sit and eat out on the big wrap-around deck.
Judy even had a special NATS cake made to go along with her homemade ice cream for dessert.
It was a great evening and kick-off for the 2015 NATS convention. Great job, Judy!
