Illuminations

One cold evening, a few days before Christmas, Dad, Mom, and all of us managed to go to  Illuminations at Botanica for the first time.  We parked in a parking lot and waited for the party bus to take us and a lot of other people over to Botanica for the Christmas light spectacular.  When the bus dropped us off at the entrance we paid and entered into a winter wonderland of twinkling Christmas lights and a sea of people walking around, just like us, in awe of all the twinkling, blinking, and shining lights set to Christmas music.  (Below is our little group, minus me, waiting in the parking lot for the party bus.)
The coolest thing we saw while we were at Botanica that night was this large area of lights on the ground and the surrounding Christmas trees.  This area was set, blinked, and changed colors to several different Christmas songs that played loudly for all to hear.
We all enjoyed walking around and looking at all the amazing displays of lights strung through trees, plants, fences, benches, across water, and on buildings.
There were a few areas set up to take cute kid and family pictures.  Below you can see our three Gingerbread people.
When we walked over into the kid/barn area of Botanica, Silas got so excited to go through the path that led to the instruments that he hurriedly left us and walked the path by himself, from instrument to instrument.... until I found him (finally) at the end of the path playing the very last instrument.  Geesh kid, you have to learn to stay with me, or I am going to be holding your hand until you are at least 16.
Fun was had by all, along with cold toes and noses, and hot chocolate when we got home that night.
