Phoebe - 10u Softball
**Game #8 against Belle Plaine**
Phoebe walked her first at bat tonight. Then she stole her way around the bases to score for her team.
Phoebe walked her first at bat tonight. Then she stole her way around the bases to score for her team.
She got her first hit of the season on her second at bat (keep in mind that there are few strikes thrown in 10u to hit). She hit a hard line drive towards second for a single.
Then worked on stealing her way around the bases to score for her team again.
She played shortstop and left center again for this game, and sat in the dugout one inning.
We lost the game by one run. What a bummer. Below, these friends were still all smiles. Left to right, Phoebe, Shawna, Haylee, and Abigail.

**Game #9 against Mulvane 1**
I only got to watch part of this game because all three of our kids had games tonight and I had to leave a bit early to be at the next game. Phoebe had two at bats. She walked once and hit a double on her second at bat!
She stole around the bases to score both times for her team.
She played shortstop and and left center. They won this game.
**Game #10 against Mulvane 2**
Phoebe played well during this game. She was focused, watched the ball well at the plate and was ready in her fielding positions.
When she got on base she stole her way around to score for her team. They were able to win this game.
**Game #11 against Udall**
This was Phoebe's last regularly scheduled game of the season. Her first at bat she struck out, but her second at bat she blasted it hard back out towards second base. She hit in three runners and was able to get a double out of the hit!
She played shortstop and left center again for this game, but got no action at either position. They ended up losing this game.

Silas - Machine Pitch Baseball
**Game #7 against Rose Hill 1**
We had a rematch against Rose Hill, the team that handed us our worst defeat of the season previously.
This is a new pitching machine. The other one broke last week. It throws faster than our last machine.
Silas had two ground ball single hits. They weren't the hard line drives and ground balls he has been doing recently, but they were effective. On one of his hits he slid into first base, hurting his ankle. I let him know not to slide into first, but to run through it. It was a good learning lesson.
Its hard to tie your shoes with batting gloves on. Thanks Coach Mike.
Silas played Pitcher, 1st, and Right Field. He had a play at pitcher where he threw home to the catcher to get the out, instead of first. Since there was two outs, he should have thrown to first. It was a good learning lesson for him.
We didn't play great, but we played well. A few kids that rarely hit, got a hit. We won 5-3.
**Game #8 against Clearwater 2**
We had a rematch against Clearwater 2. Based on the first game, I thought this would be an easy win. I was wrong.
Silas has a good looking swing. He hits with a lot of power, especially for a six year old. He had a hard line drive to left field for a double.
He played pitcher, first base, and right field.
Our team up and down the line-up hit well. We left the bases loaded twice and the other team made many defensive outs and we made too many defensive errors. We lost the game 4 to 9.
**Game #9 against Haysville 2**
We had a good bounce back game against the other Haysville team.
Silas played first, pitcher, catcher, and right field. Looks like he missed this play at first base because he was watching the runner and not the ball.
Silas had a ground ball single and double to left center. He also had a ground ball out to first base.
Silas likes catching.
We won 9 to 1. Are kids that weren't hitting before are hitting now. Its fun and rewarding to watch the improvement.
**Game #10 vs Clearwater 1**
The game we had been waiting for, a rematch against the undefeated Clearwater team.
We started out fast scoring two runs in the first inning.
Silas played 1st, Pitcher, and Right Field.
Silas had a ground ball down the third base line for a single, a pop fly that landed in front of the third baseman for a single, and a strikeout.
The ump made a bad call for Clearwater's first run. We always seem to have "bad" calls against us in Clearwater. I was talking with the ump about it between innings when the Clearwater coaches decide to join in. After some shouts from the crowd and coaches, we moved on and kept playing.
The scored ended 5 to 1. The Clearwater team went home with their first loss.
**Game #11 against Haysville 2**
We played a make-up game against Haysville 2 and kept up our good play.
Silas had a very hard line drive hit that went straight at the 3rd baseman. Thankfully the 3rd baseman was paying attention and in reaction almost caught it. He also had a pop up that went over the 2nd baseman's head.
Silas played 1st, pitcher, catcher, and right field. We won the game 9 to 2.
**Game #12 against Douglass**
Our last game of the year was a make up game at Douglass. We only had 8 kids, but they were ready to play.
Silas played 1st, Pitcher, Catcher, and Right Field.
Typically the kids only get 2 to 3 at bats each game. Since there were only eight kids, Silas was able to get 4 at bats.
Silas smashed the ball his first two at bats. A hard line drive to left field for a triple and one to left center field for a double. He also had a pop up to shortstop for a single and a strikeout.
I had some great coaches that helped this year. Thanks Kyle and Mike.
We won the game 10-2. We had our second 5 gun inning of the year and scored our most runs in a game of the year. The teams we played against could feel the Thunder. Good season Thunder.

Sarah - 12u Softball
**Game #4 against Oxford**
Sarah got her first opportunity to start at pitcher.
She was nervous but went out and pitched a pretty good game.
She also hit well with a hard ground ball down the third base line and one between shortstop and third.

She also hit well with a hard ground ball down the third base line and one between shortstop and third.
She was a little reserved in her throwing, so she wasn't throwing as fast as normal.
She pitched the entire game (4 innings), giving up only 4 runs.
She pitched the entire game (4 innings), giving up only 4 runs.
We won the game 9-4.
**Game #5 against Douglass**
We came into this game undefeated at 4-0. That would end after this game.
Our girls came out flat against a good team. Sarah took a pitch off the back of her left upper arm to get on base. Then stole her way around the bases to score for her team. She is fast and focused around the bases. At her next at bat she hit a big pop fly to left field to get on base.
**Game #6 against Rose Hill**
We played Rose Hill tonight. Sarah started at pitcher tonight and did a good job.
She also did a good job of hitting.
After 3 innings, we were up by so many runs they put in another pitcher (who hasn't had many opportunities to pitch) to finish out. We won the game 13-7.
**Game #7 against Wellington 2**
Sarah made an aggressive attempt (dive) to catch a short pop-up. She ended up with a skinned up elbow and hip.
We lost this game.
**Game #8 against Wellington 1**
Sarah started at shortstop and came in to pitch at the middle of the second inning.
Sarah came in with our team down 8 runs.
She pitched pretty well.
We ended up losing to this Wellington team too.
**Game #9 against Clearwater **
We feared we were going to get rained out again, but the rain eluded us.
Clearwater had a couple pitchers that could throw fast, but not the most accurate.
Sarah hammered a ball to left center for a double. It was her best hit of the year.
Sarah played third base tonight.
Our play, "Red", worked tonight. This is where when the other team has a runner on 1st and 3rd and the runner on first steals 2nd. We fake the throw to 2nd base and instead throw to the pitcher. The 3rd base runner broke for home and our pitcher threw the ball to Sarah at third for a tag out on the returning runner.
We won the game 14-11.
Popee and Nanee, were able to come watch this game, along with some of their friends, Dan and Debbie.
**Game #10 against Mulvane**
We played our last regular season of the year in Mulvane. The other team did not put up much of a fight.
Sarah pitched (4) innings and only gave up (2) runs. She was a little off, but still pitched well.
She also did well at the plate. We won this last regular season game.
