League Tournaments

Phoebe ~ Game #1 against Winfield ~ League Tournament

Phoebe's softball team got the opportunity to play in the league tournament on Saturday, June 22nd.  (Her and Sarah's teams both played in games starting at 8am, but in different towns.)  This was a single elimination tournament.  They were lined up to play against Winfield first.  This is a team that they had lost to in regular season play.  Phoebe's team came out ready to play.

Our starting pitcher was Haylee for this game.  After a couple innings the coaches brought in Abigail.

Phoebe got up to bat three times.  She hit the ball for a single, got hit with the ball, and struck out once.

She played her normal positions of shortstop and left field.

They ended up losing 7 - 4.  It was an impressive game though.  Winfield did not run away from us and we kept battling to keep the score close.

Sarah ~ Game #1 against Rose Hill ~ League Tournament

We had our league tournament in Oxford on Saturday June 22nd.  We started at 8am in the morning.  After watching the girls play, we concluded that all our games should have been played in the morning.

The first game Sarah appeared to be a magnet for the ball while at the plate.  She was hit two of her first 3 at bats.

We deflated the other team and won the game easily.

Sarah ~ Game #2 against Douglass ~ League Tournament

The 2nd game was a rematch against Douglass, who had earlier in the year handed us our first loss of the season.  Douglass was the #2 seed in the tournament and we were #3.

Douglass had a decent pitcher and defense, but it didn't seem to matter.  All of our girls were hitting the ball.

Sarah had hard ground ball hits to shortstop, past shortstop, and a line drive to left center.

We completely deflated the other team and won 16-1 in (4) innings..  Quinn pitched another great game.  This was the type of dominating performance we have been waiting for all season.

Sarah ~ Game #3 against Oxford ~ Championship Game ~ League Tournament

We were pleasantly surprised to see that Oxford (#4 seed) upset the #1 seed Conway Springs.

This was a hard swinging bunt for a single.

Sarah got the last out of the game on a ground ball to shortstop.

We are the Champions!

The girls asked me to help them dump the 5 gallon water cooler over the head coach.  I told them no and that they should dump their water bottles on him.  My plan backfired as all of us coaches got wet.

Each of the girls received a brand new ball as a reward for winning the tournament.  Congratulations girls for your dominating play to win the tournament.
