Phoebe turned 12 at the beginning of November. (Just one week after my Dad had his heart attack. Dad was still in the hospital and I had not been home since arriving at the hospital and staying there with Dad and Mom.) I didn't prepare very well since I hadn't been home so Eric and I tried to make the day as special as we could for her. We had to head out early that morning for the final game of Silas's football tournament, so our first stop was Dunkin Donuts for some special birthday donuts and drinks.
After the football game Phoebe picked for us to eat lunch at Red Lobster. She enjoyed the "never-ending-Shrimp". She ate A LOT of Shrimp! Then the waitress brought out a special birthday dessert for her.
Back at home, Phoebe opened her gifts. She received some money from Popee and Nanee, Sarah, and Silas, to put toward an Electric Scooter that she had been wanting for a VERY LONG time.
She got a great new water bottle from Aunt Lindsee, Uncle EP, and Will.
From Eric and I she got some new clothes, books, and pajamas.
On Monday night at the end of basketball practice, our good friend Traci brought in a surprise birthday cake for the team to celebrate with Phoebe.
A couple weeks after her birthday, Phoebe invited two of her good friends, Haylee and Shawna, over for a sleep over and fun.
The girls ate pizza for dinner.
Then Phoebe opened her gifts from her friends.
The girls prepared and performed a funny play for us that night and we all played charades.
Phoebe requested brownies with M&M's in them and vanilla ice cream, cherries, more M&M's, and whipped cream for the evening's dessert.
Then the girls popped popcorn and watched movies together.
The next day I took them to Color Me Mine for more fun.
Haylee painted a Fox bank, Sarah painted a heart picture holder, Phoebe and Shawna both painted snowmen, and I painted a church.
After painting we went to Applebee's for lunch. The all wanted to try Sarah's blue raspberry drink. They shared lots of laughs and stories.
Phoebe,
Happy Birthday! You are a wonderful, young lady. I like that you have a curious mind and enjoy doing complicated things like puzzles and the Rubik's Cube. I also like that you are imaginative. Your adoration for the sloth is cute. I appreciate your willingness to help out. You are doing a great job in the classroom and on the court (in the field). You are a good teammate and set the example for your teammates. I really like that you are growing tall and looking forward to seeing you spike the volleyball next year in middle school. Thank you for being a good student for me as I teach the youth. I like that you sit in the front row. Always let your light shine and be kind. Love you.
Daddy
