I am writing this blog in February and the season was over a month ago so I apologize for the lack of details.
I coached the 3rd/4th grade boys this year with Coach Corbin and Coach Bob. These were guys I also coached with during football season. Quite a few kids on our basketball team were from the football team.
Front Row Left to Right: Anakin, Luke H., Kendrick, Fisher, Carlo
Middle Row Left to Right: Slade, Nayte, Blake, Silas
Back Row Left to Right: Coach Corbin, Coach Eric, Coach Bob
Missing: Luke B
Game #1 vs. Mulvane
This was the first year of basketball for half the boys on the team. Unfortunately, the two hardest games of the season were the first two games. I wish we could have played these teams at the end of the season.
We lost this game by about 10. The boys competed but Silas had to carry the team.
Game #2 vs. Haysville
This was a game against some 4th grade football players. Our team was almost all 3rd grade football players.
We played hard again and lost by about 10. Silas scored most all the points.
Game #3 vs. Clearwater
Clearwater was a pretty good team and we started out in about a 10 point deficit.
We were able to come back with some good play and won by about 10. More kids got involved with scoring.
Silas is not only a scorer, he is also our best defender.
Game #3 vs. Clearwater
Another decent Clearwater team that we beat.
Game #5 vs. Haysville
The last few games of the season were blow away games. We dominated.
We won the last game by about 40 points and it could have been much more. I made Silas play in the lane on defense. He also made several good assists. For being many first time players and a young team, we had a successful season going 4-2. If we can keep this team, we should be a powerhouse next year.
Silas played really well. He scored over 1/2 the points for the season and averaged around 15 per game.
