Sarah turned sixteen at the beginning of March. Her birthday fell on a Sunday this year. We went to church that morning. Then after church Silas had an event that he and Eric were attending for the afternoon. Phoebe and I had a secret surprise plan for the afternoon for Sarah.... It started with a photo shoot, including some pets.
Then surprise! - Lindsee came to our door!!! She was going to spend the rest of the day with us.
So, we blindfolded Sarah and told her we had three more surprises for her that afternoon. She would have to use her senses as we drove, and when we arrived at each place, to figure out where we were. Here we go.........
Surprise stop number one - ???? Windows down. Smell the air. Listen. Smile. Laugh. SONIC!!! Snacks and drinks all around.
Surprise stop number two - ????? Windows down. Smell the air. Listen. CLAIRES!!!!!
We shopped around and then Sarah got her ears pierced, adding a second hole on each ear lobe.
Phoebe held her hand for each piercing. Sarah didn't even flinch. The earrings she picked were beautiful, (Mom/Nanee would have loved them), they were small Opals.
Surprise stop number three - ????? Windows down. Smell the air. Listen. Big smile! TIPS AND TOES!!!!!
We waited a little while and then it was our turn to take our massage chairs and relax.
All of our toes, except Phoebe's, turned out exactly how we wanted them to. Phoebe's were not done well and we ended up going back a few days later to have them fixed. They looked so much better on the second go round for her.
After our toes were finished, we headed home to pick up Eric and Silas. Then we went to eat dinner together at Olive Garden. At the end of our dinner our waiter brought out a birthday dessert for Sarah.
Back at home after dinner, Sarah opened her birthday gifts. She got gummy bears and gummy worms from Silas.
From Phoebe, she got lip gloss, a necklace, and some Ice Breakers Mints.
Eric and I gave her lots of new clothes, a Campus Colts blanket, and more new earrings.
We were so full from our Olive Garden dinner, we decided to wait until the next night for Sarah's requested birthday cake...a Dairy Queen ice cream cake! Phoebe had a choir concert that night so afterward we went out to eat with our friends the Hutsells and then came home and shared Sarah's sweet 16 birthday cake with our friends.

Happy SWEET 16th birthday to our Sarah Jo! You are so talented, an athlete, a straight A student, a leader, a no-nonsense no drama girl, with a kind heart, an animal lover, motivated, on top of your game, tough, on time, funny, determined, precious girl. We love you so much! You are an amazing daughter, sister, granddaughter, and friend. We are blessed that you are ours. Keep shining, Sarah!
Love, Mommy
Popee came to visit us that week and took us all out to a birthday dinner for Sarah down in Clearwater at Walt's. He and the kids think that Walt's has the best peanut butter and hot fudge milkshakes that they have ever had. He also had a special card and a money gift for her. THANKS POPEE!
A few days later a few gifts arrived in the mail, a Visa gift card from Grandma Sharon, and from Uncle EP, Aunt Lindsee, and Will...a great new Colorado sweatshirt and some more new earrings that she had been wanting. THANK YOU GRANDMA, EP, LINDSEE, and WILL for remembering our girl and helping her feel and know how special and loved she is by you all.
