Phoebe and I got to go out to eat (a little after Will's birthday) with Popee, EP, Lindsee, and Will for a Mexican birthday dinner. Will got to wear the sombrero and a big smile.
Popee came to town a day before his hip replacement surgery. We went out to eat the night before the surgery together at Jimmy's Diner. We listened to a lot of the good oldies (songs) while we were there.
I took Dad the next morning for his (right) total hip replacement. He had been needing to have this hip done for over two years now, and he finally got cleared and checked all the surgeon's boxes to have the surgery. It went well. Praise the Lord! The hip was one of the worst the surgeon had seen, but he was able to repair it and now Dad is on the mend. He is ready to be able to get around easier and be able to enjoy activities that the hip had been limiting him from doing.
At one of Sarah's last home basketball games of the season two of her friends showed up with signs that they had made to help cheer her on.
Our kids joined in with other youth in our church to help set-up, serve, and clean-up at our church's Valentine's banquet. The event is used as a fundraiser to help the youth raise funds to pay for their summer camp fees. Each camper has to come up with $200 or participate in events through church to help raise those funds.
Eric and I were chosen to participate in the "Newlywed Game" that night at the Valentine banquet. We competed against one other couple, and won! We are so good at that game. We have been selected before, years ago, to play and won that time too. Our brains are so connected...for real.
Then, Eric won the Valentine door prize that night too. Look at that smile.....
The Kansas City Chiefs played the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl on February 11th. We filled out our square chart, like we always do, before the game started. The first quarter winner was me!
The halftime and third quarter winner was Silas!
Then the game went into overtime and Eric was the fourth quarter winner and Sarah was the (overtime) end-of-the-game winner. AND, the CHIEFS WON the SUPER BOWL!!!!!
I caught Gus on Phoebe's bed one evening. He was laying in there being cute and calm. What a good boy!
Phoebe loves both of our dogs. She is a good pet owner and very helpful with their daily care.
Lindsee was able to bring Popee to Sarah's last home basketball game of the season. She was so happy to have him there to support her and her team. Thank you to everyone who was able to come to some of her home and away basketball games this season. We appreciate the love and support you each show our kids and family with your encouraging words and actions.
Silas loved cheering for his favorite boys' team player this year, Jacob Webber, Jacob played a lot of point guard for the team this season and played tough. I am glad that Silas has boys that are good role models on the court and off the court to look up to.
We got to go to the last Emporia State University home basketball games of the season on February 24th. STINGERS UP!
Silas and Phoebe both received some great awards from our school district this month. Silas got a "Reading Achievement" award for FastBridge CBMReading - TOP 10% nationally in his grade (5th). He also got the "Mathematics Certificate of Achievement" award for FastBridge CBMmath - TOP 10% Nationally in his grade (5th). Phoebe got a "Mathematics Certificate of Achievement" award for FastBridge CBMmath - TOP 10% Nationally in her grade (8th). She also was awarded the certificate for "Good Behavior/Rider of the Month" from her bus driver. (No surprise there! We have good kids and are so happy that their good behavior and accomplishments are being recognized.) WOOT WOOT! Way to go kids!
