April 2024

Lucy has been sleeping a lot lately in her little bed and box.
Gus still thinks he is a little guy that can lay in a lap.... But he has grown and is still growing into a big guy. Eric weighed him about two weeks ago and he weighed 74 pounds then.
Sarah and two other girls from Campus were the overall college algebra escape room winners! Great job you math wiz's! Keep mathing!
Sarah participated in the National Honor Society's induction ceremony. She is the Junior class representative for the National Honor Society so she also had a speaking part in the ceremony.
Silas ran the practice 5K for DUDES on April 11th. He ran a good race beating all of the other DUDES with a time of 24:38. (A 5K race/run is 3.1 miles.)
On your marks. Get set. GO!
The girls and I provided a cheering section for Silas and the other boys all along their running course.
Each DUDE has a running buddy who is supposed to be someone they select who will run the practice 5K and the 5K race with them at the end of the season. Silas's running buddy is Mrs. Driskill again this season. She is a great running coach and has been a good encourager to Silas.
Popee was able to come to Silas's basketball games on April 13th.
Prom was held on Saturday, April 13th. A few weeks before Prom Sarah had called me from school to tell me she and three other girls had been selected by their teachers to be candidates for "Prom Princess". It is an honor to be the top four selected from the Junior class by teachers. Then a few days before Prom the Junior class all got to vote on the Prom Princess and Prom Prince. The winners would be announced at 9:30 pm during Prom.
My friend, Tristan, came over and helped do Sarah's hair before Prom. It looked fantastic!
After her hair was done Phoebe and I helped her finish getting ready and then we waited for Justin and his family to arrive so that we could take some pictures before they headed off to Prom.
Sarah and Justin looked GREAT!
Below, the Prom Princess and Prince candidates.... left to right, Grace, Jeanette, Brandt, Kellyn, Sarah, Camden, Landen, and Denton.
As the weather has been warming up Silas's toads have been coming out of hibernation. So far four have come out.... And, a smaller (about 2 feet) snake. Eric removed the snake from the toad bin/window well and helped Silas clean out the toad's area.
The high school girl's basketball banquet was held on April 15th. The varsity girls that were there and received their letters and pins were Emerleigh, Kayla, Sarah, Brooke, Alia, Emily, and Addi.
Below, Sarah and her good friend, Ava at the basketball banquet.
Silas's elementary school hosted a Mother/Son BINGO Night. We didn't win any of the BINGO games but we did have a good time and a lot of laughs.
Below, Silas and his friends Owen and Levi.
Phoebe and her choir sang in Oklahoma City at the  Heartland Music Festival on April 20th. The choir received all 1 ratings. Yay! Then the choir and parent chaperones all went to Frontier City (an amusement park in Oklahoma City) together for the afternoon.
Silas played in the district-wide Orchestra concert on April 25th. Popee and Lindsee came to enjoy the concert with us. Silas had a solo part and nailed it!
Silas's friends, Carlo and Blake also played in the concert.
Silas ran in his last elementary school Fun Run on April 26th. He is in pretty good shape from running with DUDES and playing basketball, so we expected him to run well today. It was a VERY windy day and I thought that could affect his race, but he ended up in a close race toward the end with one boy (Adonez), who just managed to step over the finish line about a foot in front of Silas.  Silas's mile time was 7:34. Good race buddy!
Below, Mrs. Driskill encouraging Silas during the Fun Run race.
Sarah came to the Fun Run to help and cheer for all the kids running too. Below, Sarah and her fourth grade teacher, Ms. Schaller.
Phoebe and I saw these giant stuffed chickens at Atwood's. Phoebe joined their flock for a picture for me. SMILE girls!
We were amazed one evening to go outside and see these beautiful clouds floating in the sky above our house.
