Hutton sponsored the K-State Wind Surge baseball game in early August. We all got super cool purple hats and a fun picture with our favorite team mascot... Willie the Wildcat!
Seniors can pay to paint their parking spot a couple weeks prior to school starting. Sarah had a fun idea that she wanted us to paint, an idea from the Disney movie, "UP". Eric and my Dad helped her figure out her colors and the paint that she needed. Justin, Phoebe, and I helped her paint the spot. It took us a day and a half to complete. And, the finished spot looks FANTASTIC!
***Tips and things to remember for those painting a parking spot in the future***
-Light colored paint does not cover well. You will probably need a LOT more paint than you think.
-Bring a broom or leaf blower to clean the parking spot before getting started.
-Bring a big bucket of water to clean brushes, rollers, and hands as you go.
-Don't forget the tape to tape off your spot and the design.
-Bring Chaulk to draw out designs or lettering before painting.
-Bring family members or friends to help you because this WILL take LONGER than you think to complete.
-Bring a canopy for shade while painting.
-Bring some bag chairs for resting.
-Bring a cooler with cold drinks.
-Have a great Dad, Mom, or friend who will bring you drinks from Sonic, coffee, and doughnuts while you paint.
For Silas birthday party this year, we took some of his friends to Rock River Rapids. Then we came back to our house for pizza dinner, wiffleball, cake, gifts, and some basketball. Pictured below, left to right, Arnez, Diesel, Landon, Owen, Camden, Silas, and Carson.
On Silas's birthday the girls and I took him to the zoo. It was a nice morning to walk around looking at the animals and feeding/petting the Stingrays.
That night, we ate birthday dinner at Texas Roadhouse, he opened his gifts, and we ate dessert.
Sarah and Jax have been best friends since middle school.
Dad, Lindsee, Will, the kids, and I took a last trip of the summer before school started to Bella Vista to see Uncle Ernie and spend a few days at the lake. We had a great time. Ernie had a friend who let us borrow a kayak and a paddle board while we were there. The kids especially enjoyed using the paddle board for hours and hours.
We took a few boat rides around the lake, there was a lot of swimming, and Dad even took a nap on the boat.
Gus and Lucy are becoming better friends. She tolerates Gus much more than she tolerates Belle. We aren't sure why, but she'll let Gus get close and even lets him give her a few little licks every now and then.
The first day of school for Silas and Phoebe was in mid-August. Sarah went back on the same day as them to help with freshman orientation. She is a part of Link Crew. Link Crew helps the freshmen all year long, orientation, answering questions, etc.
The next morning Sarah attended "Senior Sunrise" with some of her friends.
Both of our girls made the Campus High School volleyball team. Sarah will play on the varsity team and Phoebe will play on the freshmen team. Good job, girls!
We went out for ice cream at Braum's to celebrate the girls making the volleyball team.
August 22nd was a GOOD night! Phoebe gave her heart to God and was wonderfully saved. Shine bright, Phoebe! Thank you, God.
For the volleyball fundraiser this season the girls had to try to sell 20 Gold Cards (coupon cards) each. We did a little Gold Card photo shoot to post on social media in hopes of helping sell some of the cards. It took them two weeks, but they sold them all. THANK YOU to each of you who bought cards from them!
Volleyball team pictures were taken early on a Saturday morning. There are five senior girls on the varsity team this year. Pictured below, left to right, Dallas, Emmi, Morgan, Ava, Tilly, Denton, Sarah, and Coach Blehm.
We celebrated Justin's birthday with lunch at Carlo's O'Kelly's. They didn't bring out the sombrero for him to wear, but they did bring out some birthday sopaipillas and we sang "Happy Birthday" to him.
Silas had his first "Go Do It" at school. This happens at the end of every month. Students in good standing (grades and behaviors) all get to pick a fun activity to participate in during the afternoon of the last Thursday or Friday of the month. Silas picked to meet, learn about, and spend some time with the service dog, "GROOT".
Our district held their FALL SPORTS preview on August 30th. All the sports team were introduced and walked out on the football field together. After the introductions, the middle school and high school football teams had inner-squad scrimmages for all to watch.
The varsity volleyball team played in their first tournament of the season at Eisenhower High School.
