We had a birthday party on Tuesday, August 6th for Silas. He had a hard time coming up with a birthday party plan this year. There were a lot of options. We ended up taking a group of Silas's friends to Rock River Rapids for some swimming and fun. Then we went back to our house for dinner, presents, cake, wiffleball and some basketball. The boys pictured below, left to right, Arnez, Diesel, Landon, Owen, Camden, Silas, and Carson.
Happy 12th Birthday, Silas! I am thankful that you have some great friends from school and church.
Two more friends from church joined us later that evening, Levi and Mason.
Two days later we celebrated Silas's actual birthday.... We started the day by going to the Sedgwick County Zoo. We saw lots of animals, but what Silas really wanted to do was to feed and pet the Stingrays and little Sharks. So, we went to Stingray Cove. Phoebe and Silas both choose to feed the Stingrays. In each of their feeding cups were pieces of fish and Octopus. Silas was a little grossed out by the whole baby Octopus that he needed to touch.....
On our drive back home from the zoo, we drove through Wendy's to grab some quick lunch. Silas had been wanting to try the new "Saucy Nuggs" and a "Triple Berry Frosty", so I treated him to both.
Later in the day, Lindsee, Will, and Popee arrived to celebrate with us. We started with Silas opening presents. From Popee, he got some cash, snacks, and a funny Frog hat. Lindsee, Will, and EP gave him some college money and some new rock/gem stones he had been wanting. In the mail, he got a Visa gift card from Grandma Sharon.
Phoebe gave him a new game, "Cards Against Humanity - FAMILY EDITION". Sarah gave him a new Jordan hoodie.
Eric and I gave him a new die-cast car, some new clothes, a cd, a trampoline slam ball game, a small fan, the book called Hatchet, cologne, and Pez candy,
We went out to eat a yummy dinner at Texas Roadhouse. Silas sat in the saddle while everyone in the restaurant cheered, whooped, and wished him a big Texas Roadhouse "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!"
Back at home later we ate a fruit pizza that I made and Phoebe decorated. Silas loves fruit pizza and has requested this on his birthday for several years in a row. After eating we played his new games.
Happy 12th birthday to our, growing up way too fast, boy - Silas Paul! You make our lives better. You make us smile and laugh. You give some of the best hugs. You are compassionate and fair. You show integrity and strive to be Christlike every day. You are intelligent and can remember everything. You are high-achieving and knowledgeable about so many things. You are very athletic and musically talented. YOU ARE AMAZING! We love you so much!
