Game #1 & #2 - Saturday, November 2nd 12:00 & 1:00
We started another session of YMCA Advanced league basketball with a double header. Although our team is mainly 11 and 12 year old players, we have a player that is 13 that requires us to play in the 13u league. Thus, we are normally the smallest team.
Below, Silas blew by this guy.
Good form, Silas. Below, shooting free-throws.
We started off the season with a great win against the best team in the league (other than us) winning 43 to 25. The second game we won 38 to 16. It was a great start to the season. Silas had some fans in the stands cheering for him today - Pictured below, Phoebe, Popee, Silas, Will, Lindsee, and EP.
Game #3 - Saturday, November 9th 12:00
We played the blue team again this week. We did not play well. Our energy was low and we played flat losing 30 to 41.
Game #4 & #5 - Saturday, November 16th 11:00 & 12:00 (cancelled)
We were supposed to have a double header today, but one of the teams had to cancel. I am hoping they make that game up later in the season. We played another poor game but won 27-16.
Game #6 & #7 - Saturday, November 23rd 1:00 & 3:00
We had another double header. Neither of these teams were very good and we played to their level. We won the games, but it was ugly. First game was 33 to 28 and the other was 41 to 30.
Game #8 - Saturday, December 14th 11:00
Last game of the regular season was a win against a one of the lesser teams. We didn't play great but we got the W.
Game #1 Monday, December 16th
We finished the season 7-1 and were the top ranked team in the tournament. We won our first round game.
Game #2 Thursday, December 19th
We thought the championship game would be against the other 7-1 team, but we were surprised to see that we were playing the Jags. The Jags beat the Thunderbolts by 2 to make it to the championship. The Jags were much improved from the last time we played them, but our smothering defense overwhelmed them.
Silas shot about 8 free throws, making 5 of them. He has shot a pretty high percentage of free throws and three pointers this year. We ended up winning by 10.
