April 2025

Each year the High School holds the  COTY (Class Of The Year) Olympics. It is an evening in April. COTY is filled with fun and crazy events that students compete class against class for the win and the points earned from each win. These points are then added to their point totals from throughout the year and when tallied the class with the most points earns a "free day off" of school. It was a close competition this year between the Senior class and the Sophomore classes. The Senior class ended with the win. Sarah represented her class in the "Potato Sweep" and the "Tug of War". Phoebe sat with her classmates and cheered on the freshmen.
Sarah got some fun mail from K-State one day....a great yard sign!
Sarah and I attended the KSU Future Educators Day in Manhattan on 4/3/25.
Eric and I invited Dad and Lindsee to attend the Caldwell Regional Health Foundation Golden Nugget Gala with us. Caldwell Regional Hospital was one of Eric's construction projects. The evening was filled with good food and drinks, games, a silent and live auction, raffle prizes, and a presentation. I asked Eric to buy Lindsee and I some light up blinky rings, which then entered us into a drawing for Alabama tickets later in the evening. Dad and I played some Blackjack at one of the game tables. And, we WON the Alabama tickets! Lindsee and I were super excited!
While we were at the Gala, the kids had fun at home. They went to the candy store, ate dinner together, had some Play-Doh building contests, and watched a movie together.
The gospel group 11th Hour came to our church for a Sunday evening concert. Amber, Garrett, and Victoria sang beautifully together. It was an enjoyable evening. Sarah even won a CD from Amber.
Sarah invited Phoebe to attend Prom with her this year. They both got their fingernails and toenails done to match their dresses. The night of Prom they went to their friend Ava's house for pictures then they all went out to eat at Brick Town Brewery. After Prom they went back to Ava's house for some pancakes and fun. They had a great time laughing, dancing, and hanging out with a good group of friends for the night.

Jax met up with them at the dance and then went to Ava's house after the dance too.

Eric and I attended a Catbackers KSU Night with Sarah. Every senior there, planning to attend KSU this fall 2025, came away with some sort of scholarship. Sarah was awarded a $750 scholoarship.
We added a new puppy to the Hendrickson pack on Sunday, April 13th. We got her from our friends Carl and his wife Michelle. They had a litter of 9 puppies on February 17th, 2025. After a few nights of discussions and some family voting, a couple times, we finally decided on the name Ray. (Ray is the name of the lightening bug in Disney's Princess and the Frog). Silas and Eric went to visit Carl and to borrow his splitter a few days prior to us getting this puppy. While there, Silas played with all of the puppies but especially liked the "pink collar" puppy. Long story short, Carl brought the "pink collar" puppy to our house Sunday evening, and our family grew by four paws. Ray's dad is Anatolian Sheperd (a HUGE dog) and her mom was part Doberman, part Rottweiler. So, I believe we will have a pretty big dog when Ray finishes growing.
My cousin Jordan married Trisha on April 19th, 2025. The wedding was at Emma Creek Barn, owned by my other cousin, Jordan's brother, Josh. Below, left to right, Natasha, Josh, Owen, Dale, Jan, Hayley, Preston, Zach, Jordan, Trisha, Ashlyn, Blake, Johannah, Chris, Waylon, Jess, Tim, and Lucy.
The very next day after Jordan's wedding was Easter Sunday. We went to church and then we drove back to Emma Creek Barn for the Hastings Easter gathering. We ate good food, played indoor games (due to rain and mud), and had an indoor Easter egg hunt.

Phoebe crocheted Easter baskets for herself, Sarah, and Silas. They turned out so cute!

Silas was asked to help with an interview about our town. The show, Melvin Mania, will air on PBS KANSAS on May 17th at 9:30 am, May 19th at 3:30 pm, and May 22nd at 3:30 pm.
Sarah and I, along with our friends Lisa and Aleigha worked a Project Graduation booth on a rainy Saturday at Party in the 060.
Lindsee and I went to the Alabama concert on Sunday, April 27th. It was really good, just like I thought it would be. I knew every song that they played. It brought back a lot of memories of songs we use to sing along to on family trips when Dad or Mom would pop in one of several Alabama tapes that they owned as we "rolled on" down the rode in our big conversion van. Montgomery Gentry featuring Eddie Montgomery, brother of John Michael Montgomery opened for Alabama.
The high school had the annual basketball potluck and awards evening.... The seniors (Sarah, Alia, and Brooke) were recognized for their contributions to the program over the last four years
Our girls are especially thankful for Coach Allan and Coach Chapman and the relationships/friendships that they have formed with these two great guys.
Silas got to see the song "Gratitude" at a Wednesday evening church service. He did amazing.
