July 2025

We had a great family trip to Bella Vista over the 4th of July holiday. We swam, fished, played games, laughed, boated, kayaked and paddle boarded, attended an old car show, went to a concert, and watched fireworks together.
Silas and his good friend, Landon, look very similar from the back. They played baseball together this summer and sometimes Landon's mom and I even mixed them up out on the field.
Silas's team played in their last baseball tournament of the season. It was a fun season. Most of these boys have played together now for several years. It is great to watch their improvements every season.
One HOT July afternoon Silas, Will, and Phoebe got out some of our old (little kid) summer water toys....water guns and pool at our house. They had fun for a few hours playing outside together.

We went to see the movie "How To Train Your Dragon" in the theater. I loved it! Great movie!
Dad went with Lindsee, Will, Sarah, Phoebe, Silas, and I to the Exploration Place one morning in July.
We had a fantastic trip to Branson in mid-July. We took Sarah's best friend, Jax, with us. We went to the production of DAVID at the Sights and Sounds Theater and Silver Dollar City.

Eric got Phoebe and I both new cars! I got a black Ford Explorer and Phoebe got a white Ford Fusion.
I took Phoebe and Silas for their sports physicals. Silas was waiting in a small conference room when all of a sudden, he discovered a small snake in the light fixture above the table! When the doctor came into the conference room Silas showed him the snake in the fixture and the doctor got it down. The he and Silas took it outside to release it.
One very hot afternoon Silas and I discovered a chicken in an evergreen tree along our north property line. It was scared and we couldn't get too close to it. Phoebe and Silas tried for about thirty minutes to catch it...until Silas was stung by a wasp and the chicken escaped them. A couple days later, on another SUPER HOT afternoon, we heard the chicken again along our north property line. This time Phoebe, Silas, and I were determined to capture it. It took us over an hour and we were drenched in sweat, but we managed to flush her out, chase her, corral her, chase her some more, shoo her out of bushes, run through Poison Ivy, and chase her some more, and we finally were able to get her to go into our big coop with 7 of our other chickens. She was hungry and thirsty. After making a couple calls to our neighbors to see if she might belong to them, we discovered that one of our neighbors had some predators get into their coop and some chickens had been missing for a while. The neighbor told us we could keep her because it was so hot outside, and we had gone to a lot of trouble to catch her. She is a beautiful chicken. Phoebe has been into the Star Wars movies recently and named our new chicken, Leia.

Dad turned 76 at the end of July. We celebrated with him by eating a birthday lunch at Olive Garden.
