Sweet 16 Sweet Girl

We celebrated Phoebe's 16th birthday at the beginning of November. She made a list of the things she wanted to do with us for some birthday fun....
The "birthday weekend fun" started on Friday when she got home from school. Sarah was there to greet her and took her and Silas to Sonic for "Happy Hour" drinks.
When Eric and I got home from work we all headed to Paramount West. A huge antique store that Phoebe and I love to go to and wander the aisles every once in a while. We found a couple vintage Christmas items to buy.
The next stop that evening was Hobby Lobby. A few weeks prior to her birthday, Phoebe had told me that for her birthday, she wanted to go to Hobby Lobby and get one of everything in the GRINCH aisle. (She is a big Grinch fan.) We laughed about it, but she put Hobby Lobby on the "birthday fun" list so there we were headed straight for the Grinch aisle... She picked out numerous Grinch items that she wanted and thought would look good added to her growing collection of Grinch items decorating her bedroom. Eric helped her sort through her armload of items and pick out the things that she wanted the most.
After shopping at the Paramount and Hobby Lobby we went to IHOP for birthday dinner and dessert.
Back at home after dinner at IHOP, Phoebe opened her presents. Sarah gave her some things from Claire's. Silas gave her a new Grinch ornament. Of course Eric and I gave her some Grinch things too.... We also got her a new sweater, a notebook, a cookbook, a puzzle, and some clothes. She got a gift card in the mail from Grandma Sharon. And, in the mail from Popee she got some cash and dessert gift cards.
She requested a vanilla cake from Sam's. (Good choice. It was delicious!)
Happy 16th birthday, Phoebe! You are a shining light in all of our lives. You are funny and can make us laugh every day. You are always willing to help. You study and work hard in school, and your grades are a reflection of the work you put in, (straight A's!) You are a quiet, but strong and efficient leader among your classmates and teammates. People can't help but love you as they get to know you. You are beautiful inside and out. You have crazy good dance moves. You are a loyal friend and so kind to everyone you meet. God loves you very much and so do we!
On Saturday we went to NuWay for dinner. Phoebe really wanted a Root Beer Float from there.
On the way home from NuWay, we stopped to get her some Candy Apples.
Then we all had a friendly Wii Dance competition.... Teams were Phoebe and I, Eric and Silas, Sarah and Owen. Each person took a turn to dance against everyone else not on their team. Eric kept track of scores and winners to determine the overall winning team....Sarah and Owen won that night.
Finally, on Sunday, Phoebe and I went to one more antique store the Paramount Marketplace. We found some more great vintage Christmas items to add to our decorations at home and in her bedroom.
We told her we would go to Wicked 2 and Zootopia 2 later in the month when those two movies were released into the theaters. (Phoebe and I saw Wicked 2 on December 5th. It was really good!)
