We were able to take a short family trip to Branson December 26th-29th. We used our Silver Dollar City season passes a few more times before the 2025 season ended. The weather was amazing until Sunday afternoon when it turned bitterly cold. We were prepared though and brought our coats and gloves into the park that day with us so that we would be ready to put them on and continue having fun. (Even Silas, who insisted he WAS NOT going to need or wear his coat, was glad he had it and quickly put it on as the temperature dropped.) Christmas in Branson and at Silver Dollar city in particular are spectacular! The millions of twinkling lights, the displays, music, food, and atmosphere can't be beat. We were able to see our favorite quartet, SPOKEN 4 perform twice and get our pictures taken with them after one of the shows. We went to the Dickens Christmas Carol show and the Saloon Show which are always done well and entertaining for all ages. And one of my personal favorites at Christmas time in SDC is the Christmas Sing-along train ride, with the real Christmas story being told halfway through the ride. The crowds were big, as we expected they would be, but on Saturday evening ride lines shortened, and we were able to ride most of our favorite rides before heading back to our hotel.
One other notable highlight of Friday evening at SDC was running into the famous actor "Buck Taylor". Buck is famous for his roles in the t.v. series Gunsmoke and most recently Yellowstone, and movies like Gettysburg, Gods and Generals, Tombstone, and Cowboys and Aliens...and many many more. He was with family visiting the park like we were. While we waited for our kids to ride a roller coaster, Eric approached him and began a conversation. He was very kind, and he sat and talked with us for 15-20 minutes. He asked about our children, Eric's job, and he told us about his life, acting, some of the people he has acted with and for, and things he likes to do and his home. What an amazing, talented, kind man!
