We took a little trip to Missouri last week. My parents had some time to use at Big Cedar Lodge and invited us to meet them there... The weather was BEAUTIFUL every day we were there... temps in the 70's and 80's. On the first night there Eric and I had a date night. We went on an 8:00 pm dinner cruise on the Showboat Branson Belle. We had a nice time together. Eric liked the comedian and magician, Christopher James, also known as Funny Hyper Magic Guy, and I really liked the violinist, Janice Martin. The three course all American meal was delicious!
When we went in to be seated, we discovered we had great seats in the front row!
The next morning, eating breakfast, and reading on the balcony in our suite at Big Cedar Lodge...
I signed the girls up for a Lowe's Build and Grow clinic Saturday morning in Hollister, Missouri. They each got to build R.C. the car from the Disney Toy Story movies. Daddy and Popee helped Sarah and Phoebe build their cars.
We did a LOT of swimming. Big Cedar Lodge has several swimming pools, water slides, a lazy river, and a swimming beach on Table Rock Lake.
We took a paddle boat ride on Table Rock Lake. Sarah and Phoebe were not very impressed with the paddle boat. They both just wanted to get back into the water and swim some more.
Dad, Mom, and Eric played miniature golf one evening at Big Cedar Lodge.
Big Cedar Lodge was a nice resort. There was a lot to do there and the surrounding area was beautiful. Sarah, Phoebe, and Silas even enjoyed playing in the bubbles in our suite's whirlpool bathtub.
We all went to Silver Dollar City on Sunday. It was very crowded, and the lines for most of the rides were very long. It started to rain late in the afternoon, closing down almost all of the rides and causing them to cancel the evening show. Bummer. This was the show Eric and I were looking forward to the most.
We all got to ride the Flooded Mine ride together. Below you can see the pictures of some real sharp shooters! My advice is don't mess with that lady with the long dark hair... She means business! Eric and my Dad ended up with the highest scores. I was holding Silas on my lap for the entire ride and I am pretty sure I had a faulty gun....resulting in a lower score... if only I could have given Silas away and traded guns with someone...
We went to the Canjun Connection music show. Sarah was less than enthusiastic about this show. Phoebe on the other hand loved it! She was smiling and dancing in her seat to the upbeat sounds from the high energy salute to the rich musical traditions of Louisiana.
Finally, after fighting off sleep all day at Silver Dollar City, Eric got Silas to fall asleep for about an hour in his stroller. Yay! Go Eric, more "Super Dad" points for you. XOXOXO ~ to my husband. He rocks.
More swimming....
And, what trip to Missouri would be complete without a stop at the huge Bass Pro Shop in Springfield, Missouri? Well, not ours... so we stopped, shopped, and looked around for a couple of hours before heading back to Kansas. GGGrrrrrr!
It also happened to be my Dad's birthday! I love him.
Whoa, look, my three favorite guys in the whole world. I love them all.
Happy Birthday DAD! We had a great time with you and Mom in Missouri.
