Tale of Two Turtles

**GUEST BLOGGER**
 ~ Sarah ~

A few weeks ago when I rode my bike with mommy running we saw a turtle on the rode.   Then to bring him home I put him in my bike basket.  we took him in the backyard and mommy got out the big blue swim pool and then we put some wood in there for him then we put in a little water.  We weren't sure what kind of turtle it was.  Mommy looked it up and we narrowed it down to these kinds, River Cooter, Eastern/Western Painted Turtle or a Mud Turtle.  Later that night we went fishing with Popee  Popee caught a turtle.  While Popee was catching fish and the turtle, Silas, Phoebe and me were getting chased by birds.  Then when Popee caught that turtle Silas, Phoebe and me went to go see the turtle that he caught.  We were so exited.  It was a Red-Eared Slider.  We decided to bring him home to watch with the other turtle.  We named the unknown turtle Coby O'Brian and the Red-Eared Slider, Billy Westert.
Some of the differences between the two turtles was one was bigger than the other.  One had a rougher shell and one had a smoother shell than the other one.  One had red, yellow, and brown on his face and the other had brown on it's face.  One was super shy and the other was super duper active.
Look at the differences between the two bottom shells.  The top picture is the unknown turtle.  The bottom picture is the Red-Eared Slider.
Jessee was very interested in the two turtles.  When I put pieces of dog food in the pool when Jessee was out of her kennel she tried to eat the pieces of dog food that I put in there.  Only for the two turtles to eat!  NOT JESSEE!
We kept the two turtles in the pool for a couple of days so we could watch them.  We fed them dandelions, dog food, and worms.  They seemed to like the dog food the best of them all.
The little unknown turtle liked to climb up on top of the little log and sit up on top like he was the king.
We took them one night to go let them go when Lindsee and Uncle Eric were visiting us.  The little unknown turtle scurried off into the mud and water, but the Red-Eared Slider sat there just sitting in his shell doing nothing.
I really like turtles. I love watching them and learning about them.  Phoebe and Silas really liked watching them too.
