Summer Fun 2016

We had a lot of fun this summer.  Below are just a few of the things we did and what the kids had to say and remembered about these activities....
Phoebe ~ "Silas, Mommy, and I went to the Zoo to see the animals.  There was 5 new Elephants!  We also saw a turtle that was camouflaged with moss on his shell by the Elephant's water."
Silas ~ "I went to church VBS.  We danced and singed songs.  We played games.  We made the craft.  I liked VBS.  My favorite songs were, Diggin Life, How Many Needs, and God's Big Backyard.  The girls went too and they liked it."
Sarah ~ "I went to Lady Shocker basketball camp.  It was 2 days long.  We divided into teams.  We did lots of drills and played games.  My friend Hannah was at the camp too.  We got to eat lunch there, and we got to buy snacks from the snack bar."
Silas ~ "We went to Botanica.  Phoebe and me went on a Scavenger Hunt.  I had to find fish, shiny rock, pinecone, butterfly, leaf, flower petal, sea shell, eggs, and a feather for my box.  At the end I got a treasure.  It was a book.  My snack was a seed and nut bar."
Sarah ~ "We went to Olpe and stayed at Grandma Great's house.  We went to the park and played at night time.  It was super hot outside."
Phoebe ~ "One day we got to go swimming in our backyard.  First we had to get the pool out.  Then we got the slide out.  Then we had to fill the pool up.  And we got to do the slip-n-slide.  And, we played with our water guns.  It was a hot day."
Silas ~ "We learned about Dragonflies at Botanica.  We tried on the silly glasses.  They were bug glasses and it was bug day.  I made a Dragonfly.  And my snack was a Dragonfly made from fruit.  I shared some of it with Mommy...one blackberry.  I wanted to share one because Mommy didn't have breakfast that day...so that could be her breakfast that day."
Sarah ~ "At Botanica we got to paint a hard clay/rock to look like a bug.  It had pipe cleaner legs and googly eyes."
Silas ~ "We went to Dale and Jan's house and Jess and Andrew were there!  Jess and Andrew are nice.  If they come to our house on another day we can build a fort downstairs.  Andrew builds good forts.  When he comed here one day he built a giant fort.  Then we played."

Silas ~ "There were dinosaurs and they were moving at Exploration Place.  Two were moving by there-selves.  One was a meat-eater.  The meat-eater was tall and big.
Phoebe ~ "At the Exploration Place I like to drive the planes.  I pretend to drive it to Washington D.C.  It takes us three days to get there.  We do not crash.  We land."
Sarah ~ "The ball maze at Exploration Place was fun.  I got to the finish one time.  It was kind of hard."
Silas ~ "We went mini golfing but it was too hot so we stayed in some shade.  I hitted one in the hole.  And, we got to come back on another day to play some mini golf some more with Daddy.
Sarah ~ "This sign was hanging in the bathroom at Exploration Place.  I didn't know what it meant till Mommy told me.  Then we couldn't stop laughing and it made my belly hurt.  Mommy took a picture of the sign and we showed it to Daddy later.  He laughed too. Densely packed sinkers!"  Ha! Ha! Ha! *Laughing Again*
Silas ~ "At Botanica we got to see a live Tortoise.  It was nice.  Our teacher said it used to live in a 4th grade classroom.  I got to touch it.  Then I made a stuffed turtle.  I named him Squirt."

Sarah ~ "Popee and Nanee bought a brick at Botanica for Silas, Phoebe, and me.  We found it one day in the kid's area by the rainbows

Phoebe ~ "I learned to ride my bike with no training wheels!  I had a few crashes.  I scraped my knees and my elbows up.  One time I landed on my face, but I didn't bleed.  I like riding my bike."
Silas ~ "I was golfing in the front yard.  I use the flags to get the ball in the right place.  That's when you win.  I am getting better at golfing."
Phoebe ~ "We played with our water guns.  We had fun.  We got soaking wet."
Sarah ~ "We looked at a lot of animals at the zoo.  We saw one of the Gorillas rubbing his hand on the watermelon then licking his hand over and over.  He was trying to get the watermelon juice.  He made the watermelon piece round and smooth by rubbing it with his hand.  He put it up at his mouth and licked it a few times, then he went right back to rubbing it to try to get the juice.  He should have just bit it.  There is a new baby Gorilla at our zoo.  We were hoping to see it, but we didn't get to because it was not out yet."
