Phoebe had a good last two months of third grade.
They learned about Earth Day.
She continued to do super fantastic in the high third grade math group!
She was a part of the Girls On The Run program at her school, which started in February and continued till May 11th when all of the girls and their running buddies completed a 5k run together. She enjoyed the GOTR program and running and is looking forward to participating again in the future.
Below, Phoebe's GOTR team, girls, coaches, and running buddies right before our 5k run. Phoebe and I are in the front row, kneeling, towards the middle. She had on a green shirt and I had on a tie-dye pink and yellow shirt.
For Mother's Day Phoebe's teacher helped her students make bath bombs to give to their moms. It was a nice gift.
She continued to do very well on spelling tests each week.
Phoebe completed her reading AR goal and went above and beyond it by reading lots more books and taking reading comprehension tests on them.
Due to rainy weather the Third grade field day had to be moved inside to the gym. Phoebe choose the 3-legged race, tennis ball toss, the egg and spoon race, hula hoop, and the limbo to participate in.
She and her friend Lila did well in the 3-legged race together.
Next up was the tennis ball toss.
Then hula-hoop contest. She did so well in this event she had to go to using 3 hoops!
The egg and spoon race is all about keeping a wooden egg balanced on a wooden spoon as you walk quickly to the finish line. If you drop your egg, you have to go back and start over.
Finally the limbo. She did alright but knocked the bar off on about her fourth time under.
Phoebe did very well the 4th nine weeks and throughout the school year and her yearbook card reflected her efforts.
Phoebe tried out again this year for the all-school talent show, which is always on the last day of school. She played her recital piano piece, Shirley Temple's "The Good Ship Lollipop" on the piano. She was selected to perform in the talent show with about 15-20 other students. When it was her turn she walked out, sat down, and played beautifully.
When school was out Phoebe had her friend, Shawna, come over and play for the afternoon. Bye-bye third grade! Hello fourth grade!
