Fun In September

Silas helped Daddy catch some bait fish for a few of Eric's fishing trips with his friend Roby.  He liked going with Daddy and catching the Perch.
Below are several pictures from several of Eric's fishing trips with his friend Roby.  They had a good time fishing together and share a love of setting lines and fishing for catfish.
I am thankful for Roby.  He and Eric work together and have become great friends.
Eric won the Nickelfritz trophy last December in his family fantasy football league.  It is a traveling family trophy that his family shares.  Unfortunately he didn't actually receive it until September from the previous year's winner so he only got to enjoy, and display it in his office, for a few months before it will be mailed off to 2019's winner.
Below, it is displayed in his office on the shelf next to a couple of his Grandpa's things.
We spent an evening at the drive-in movie theater.  We watched a double feature, Toy Story 4 and the new Lion King.
Sarah and Phoebe wanted to have a friend sleep-over, so Abigail and Shawna came over one night.  They all had fun playing together, watching a movie, and falling asleep tucked in their sleeping bags on the floor.
Silas found a large Garden Spider near our wood pile.  He and I had fun catching some bugs and placing them in its web and watching it running over, wrap them up, and eat.
We spent a super fun Saturday at the lake with Mom and Dad in their new boat.  The kids couldn't wait to get in the water to swim, tube, and ski.

Phoebe was the first up to try skiing.  She had only tried a couple times two years ago, but was determined that she was going to get up.  I love her willingness to try things and how she gives 100% effort.
It took her a couple tries, but she did it!!!
Way to go Phoebe!!!!!
Next up, Silas.  I got in the water with him so that I could easily talk to him and help him with his skis.  He did not make it up.  That's okay though.  He tried, and will try again next summer.

Then it was Sarah's turn.  She had skied before, but it had been two years since then.  She was determined too.  She was not going to let Phoebe show her up.
She fell hard a few times, but stuck with it and got it.  Good job Sarah!!!
Lastly, it was my turn.  I wasn't worried about still being able to ski.  It was always been pretty easy for me.  I love when I get the chance to show off just a little bit behind the boat.  I like my kids to see what their mom can do.  I really showed them this time.... I raced back and forth, and in and out of the wakes, then I did my no-hands trick.  I fell hard a couple times, but Dad brought the boat right back around to me so that I could go again.  I skied till almost dark.  It was a GREAT time at the lake.
Eric and I were invited to a friend's retirement party in Manhattan in September.  John Pence is not only our friend, but he was Eric's landlord and employer while he attended Kansas State.  He also became a great male role model to Eric, and helped guide and support him, and I, as we navigated our college years together and on after we graduated.  We were looking forward to seeing him and being part of the retirement festivities.
The party took place at the K-State Alumni Center on Campus and also in one of the newly remodeled dining centers on campus.  Pence was the head of Housing and Dining for Kansas State University for over 50 years.  He is a highly accomplished man and someone we are honored to have as our friend.

We celebrated my birthday with my besties and their families in September.  We ate a late lunch at Carlos'O Kelly's then everyone came to our house for dessert.
Pictured below, left to right, (before we cut the cake) Sarah, Traci, Abigail, Shawna, Steve, Silas, David, me - Stacee, Mandy, Felicity, Phoebe, and Eric.  Traci made a delicious "Pioneer Woman" chocolate sheet cake for me.  It was YUMM-O!
Eric and Phoebe made another one of my favorite cakes... the "Better Than S_ _" cake.  Double YUMM-O!
They took me out to lunch on my birthday at Texas Roadhouse.
After we ate lunch we came home opened some gifts and ate the cake.  Happy 42nd birthday to me!
All three of our kids, along with Eric and I, participated in "See you At The Pole" before school one morning at their schools.  A morning event where those who want can come together and pray for each other, the school, our nation, and our leaders.
We attended the annual Hutton Block Party.  This year it was at Chicken'N Pickle.  We had never been there before.  After it stopped raining we got to play some outdoor games and we all tried playing Pickle Ball.  Silas and Phoebe also got their faces painted.
Above and below, some pictures of us trying Pickle Ball.
The kids and Eric also played Shuffle Board.  Thanks Hutton for a fun family evening!
