My friend Roby (who is also a construction superintendent on my Caldwell hospital project) and I decided to have a "Team Building" fishing trip to the Elk River in Elk City on June 24th. Roby had his grandson, Jacob, come, and Silas also came with us.
We caught a lot of good fish. There were no huge ones, but the average size of 15 fish was about 8 pounds. The biggest was 17lbs. Look at the different colors of the flathead. The yellow ones were really cool.
This was a great experience for Silas and Jacob and they also are building a friendship.
Roby is a great friend and fishing buddy. He has a great place there in Elk City.
Below, my fishin Buddy.
We thought it would be fun to guess the weights of the fish. It was also a learning lesson for the boys on how to gauge the weight of fish by just looking at it. R is for Roby, E is for Eric, J is for Jacob, and S is for Silas. A is the actual weight.
We cleaned up after cleaning fish by swimming in Roby's pond. I couldn't believe how cool the water was after I got a few feet below the surface. The boys also took Roby's cardboard boat out for a trip around the pond.
We caught more than expected for this time of year (spawn). Roby and I are going out again at the end of July.
