This season Phoebe mostly played first base. She did well there, catching the ball when thrown to her, catching pop ups, and tagging girls out. She is an alert player and knows the game. She occasionally played right and left field, providing good back up to first and third bases, and a couple times played second base. She did well batting again this season. She is tough at the plate, watching the ball, and not moving out of the box, even if it means getting hit by pitches. She wears her battle wounds (bruises) well. At one particular game she was hit three times! (That earned her three candy bars from one coach.) She has had some good hard hits this season too to help her team score needed runs to win the games. She isn't afraid of sliding into home plate and seems to like the challenge, even if it makes her a little nervous, of stealing bases then getting to slide if it's a close play at home.

Game One - Tuesday, May 10th
We won this game against Derby BS 2.
Game Two - Wednesday, May 11th
We won this game against Mulvane. Popee, Nanee, and Jax came to watch Phoebe play.
Game Three - Tuesday, May 17th
We won this game against Haysville 2.
Game Four - Thursday, May 19th
We won this game against Haysville 3.
Game Five - Tuesday, May 24th (postponed to June 6th due to rain...postponed again due to wet fields - June 21st)
We won this VERY EXCITING game against the other undefeated Derby 2 team tonight!!!! It was our last game of regular season play due to postponement earlier in the season. Abigail pitched like a rockstar. Haylee stole home THREE TIMES, the last of which scored the winning run for our team. Phoebe made some good plays at first base and stole home once. And, Rayna also stole home once after coming in to courtesy run for one of our girls. Our cheering section was on fire too!
Game Six - Thursday, May 26th
We won this game against Derby BS 1.
Game Seven - Tuesday, May 31st (postponed to June 20th due to rain)
We won this game against Clearwater.
Game Eight - Thursday, June 2nd
This was our team's first loss of the season against Derby 1 (the Firebirds).
Game Nine - Tuesday, June 7th
We won this game against Haysville 2.
Game Ten - Thursday, June 9th
We won this game against Haysville 3.
Game Eleven - Tuesday, June 14th
We won!!! We WON!!!!! We beat the undefeated Derby Firebirds! 7 - 6 !!!! This was an intense game/rematch against Derby 1, who had been our only loss so far this season. We lead the entire game, but let them come back towards the end to make it a close game. Abigail pitched the entire game and did AMAZING! Cadence stole home three times, being called "SAFE" two of the three times. Our only girl to get a hit was Rayna scoring a run for us. Our other 6 runs came from girls being walked home or hit with pitches and then stealing their way around the bases. Our last run was exciting and MUCH NEEDED... Phoebe was on third and we needed her to come home.... the catcher dropped the ball a couple times, but Phoebe didn't go, finally there was another dropped ball and Phoebe took off! Running fast and sliding into home, SAFE! Giving us 7 runs!
Our friend, Abigail M, joined our team tonight too. She did great in right field backing up Phoebe on first base.
Game Twelve - Thursday, June 16th
We won this game against Clearwater.
End of Season Tournament in Rose Hill - Night One
We won this game against Winfield. This puts us in the final four championship on Wednesday night, facing off against Derby Firebirds.
End of Season Tournament in Rose Hill - Night Two
We lost this game against the Derby Firebirds. We lead the entire game until last inning and then got down because of some errors and dropped balls at first base (Phoebe was not playing first base during this inning, unfortunately). We were the home team so we had the last at bat, but couldn't get the runners on base that we needed to win. It was a disappointing loss. Phoebe played well, getting walked and stealing home to score for her team, and getting outs at first base when she was playing there.

The girls had a fantastic season! They only lost two games the entire season, both loses to the Derby Firebirds, but we did beat them once, mid-season. Phoebe played well all season. She is focused and keeps her head in the game. She loved the opportunity to play first base this season and did a great job learning the position and playing it to the best of her ability. She loves playing softball with a team of girls that are her friends and support each other on and off the field.
