Sarah tried out for and made the varsity high school basketball team. This is her fourth year playing high school ball. They started the season with team and senior pictures. Sarah wanted her basketball set on fire for her senior banner picture. Eric and I talked with a friend who had done this before and watched a YouTube video, bought supplies, and Eric set her BASKETBALL ON FIRE! The picture and banner turned out amazing! That is REAL FIRE that she is standing there calmly holding!

2024-2025 Coaches - Head Coach Ron Allan, Assistant Coach T'Allyn Smith, JV Coach/Assistant Coach Jason Hailey, and Freshmen Coach/Assistant Coach Steele Chapman
Basketball is my favorite sport to watch live and on t.v. I love watching my kids play. I was excited for this season to start.

~First win of the season against Wichita West - AVCTL challenge 1/10/25~
This not only was our first win of the season, it was our first win in 2.5 years. Not only was it a win, it was a 40 point win. This team of girls plays well together and are fun to watch when they are playing as a team. We are seeing lots of improvement this year.
~Away against Valley Center 1/11/25~
Eric and I were so glad to see Coach Chapman helping with the varsity girls this season as well as coaching the freshmen girls' team. He is a fantastic addition to the Campus Girls Basketball Program. He brings so much hands-on experience and knowledge to our girls and the teams as a whole.
THANK YOU, COACH CHAPMAN! We are so glad you are here.
Sarah usually played post so she was often playing against girls that are 6' and taller.

Unfortunately, Sarah did not get to play in this game, due to illness.

~Home against Maize South 1/21/25~
~Home against Salina South~
This might have been our best game of the season. We kept it close against a winning team in a tough division.
~Wildcat Classic Tournament in Mulvane~
We got our second and third wins of the season in this tournament against Wichita North and Winfield.
~Game #1 against Mulvane - Thursday, January 30th 7:00~

~Game #3 against Winfield~
We are all so thankful for my Dad (Popee) who has always been and continues to be one of our children's biggest fans in sports and in life. THANKS POPEE!
~ Sarah was featured on the cover and with an article in the VYPE Magazine. ~

~Home against Valley Center (Homecoming)~
With only a few minutes left in this basketball game, Sarah left the game and sprinted to the locker room to get dressed and ready for the Winter Homecoming candidate announcements and crowning.
And, then she was CROWNED QUEEN!
Below, after being crowned Queen, with some of her good friends from the basketball team this season... Addison, Emily, Ava, Kenzie, Sarah, Maddilyn, Brooke, and Alia.

This was a very intense game to watch right up to the last seconds of overtime. These girls played their hearts out. Great team effort all around tonight!

~Home against Salina Central - SENIOR NIGHT~
Phoebe got to be part of the handshake for Sarah during the starting line-up announcements. I love the smiles on their faces. Phoebe was also asked to suit up for varsity tonight, in hopes that she might get to play some toward the end of the game with her sister for the last time. (sniff, sniff, tears slow-rolling down my cheeks.... I love these amazing girls of mine. Seeing them play basketball together and participate together throughout this past year has been great. I was a little more emotional tonight though, knowing it was Sarah's last home game ever. She has accomplished SO MUCH during her high school years. She's been a leader on and off the court and in the classroom for so many teammates, students, and friends. My heart is full. My heart was a little extra sad leading up to this evening and its events.... My Mom has missed so much in the past 2 1/2 years of being gone. She would be so happy and love every moment of these accomplishments. I wish that she could see this. I wish that she was still here.)
And, from another angle I caught Sarah's expressions as she was announced as a starter for the last time...
Phoebe and Baylee got to join the varsity team tonight and got to go into the game towards the end, so that they could both get to play with their senior sisters for their last game. It was for sure a "full mom heart" moment.
Below, the three freshman on the varsity bench tonight... Jocelyn, Baylee, and Phoebe.
Then in between the varsity girls and varsity boys basketball games all of the seniors and their parents were recognized. The girls gave each senior girl a basket of gifts and one mom made each of the seniors a memory quilt (THANKS AMANDA! The quilt is amazing! A treasure!).
Some of Sarah's biggest fans were in attendance tonight to applaud her accomplishments. (AND, BIG THANKS to EP, LINDSEE, and WILL for helping us get Silas picked up from his All-State Choir concert. It was a bummer that Senior Night and the concert were on the same night, but I am thankful for family that lives close enough, and are more than willing to step in anytime to support their nephew and nieces. We love you guys!)
Also, there to support our girl tonight were Popee, Uncle Charles, and Aunt Wyonna. Big thanks to you all too.
Below, the seniors - Sarah, Brooke, and Alia, with their handmade quilts.
After this game on Senior Night, this article appeared in the local newspaper. Sarah had a BIG GAME for her team. Way to go out on a high note, Sarah!
~Sub-State away against Liberal~
The sub-state game in Liberal happened to be on Sarah's birthday. (Almost a 4 hour bus ride one way) Eric and I bought a special birthday hat and Crumbl Cookies for the basketball players and the coaches to enjoy on the bus ride for Sarah's birthday. Coach Allan handed the hat to Sarah, and told her she wouldn't be able to get on the bus if she didn't put on the hat. Ha! Thanks Coach!
This was the first sub-state game that the girls varsity Campus Colts earned a spot to play in in years. Although the game this evening didn't end the way we hoped it would, this team of girls had a great year. We saw huge improvements this year! These girls played well together and wanted to do well as a team.
It was a little sad as the game ended knowing that this was Sarah's last game to get to play in as a high school senior. A few tears were shed, and big hugs were given. It has been so fun to watch you play basketball from kindergarten all the way through your senior year. We will miss this.
