March Papers

Sarah was excited this month to get to bring home the Mystery Bag again.  This time she had to return it with something inside that started with the letter w.  She thought of a water bottle and Daddy helped her think of her Woody the Cowboy doll.
Number work...
Sarah worked on learning the sounds of and writing the letters w, x and y.
Sarah's rainbow made out of Fruit Loops.
All the children at Sarah's school participated in the Preschool Olympics this month.  It was like an indoor field day.  They started off by changing into team/class shirts that they had each made.  Sarah's class was the PeeWee Penguins.  Next they had a parade up and down the hallways waving flags that they had made and holding torches that they each had helped make.
Even Phoebe got to wave a flag in the parade.
The Olympic events consisted of Big Wheel races, a relay race, soccer ball dribbling race, Frisbee toss, and tug of war.  Sarah was nervous to participate in the first three events by herself because of many adults and other children watching her.  But, she did well on her own in the Frisbee throw (Thanks Aunt Lindsee for teaching her to throw a Frisbee correctly.  She did not throw the hammer... maybe next time.)
And, she loved the tug of war with her classmates!  Her class tugged against another class, the teachers and a group of parents.
Here is Sarah's class at the end of the Olympics, right after their awards ceremony.  Each child received a gold medal and certificate.
Sarah is improving and recognizing more and more numbers.  She has started to enjoy doing coloring by number activities at school and at home.
Each child at Sarah's school participated in the school art fair.  Sarah's Button Art was chosen for display. She titled it "Snow White", and was very happy to show Phoebe and I her work.
Sarah's memory verse for March was "Sing praises to the Lord."  Psalm 9:11

The Necklace For OUR Cause

This necklace is even more inspiring and beautiful in person!  I cannot wait to wear mine.  The necklace was designed and is being made by The Rusted Chain jewelry for our cause.  Our cause is MS or Multiple Sclerosis.  Orange is the MS color and the words... strength, courage, and hope are all words that someone with MS, or those who love someone with MS, may think and say on a regular basis when confronting the day to day battles with this disease.

March is the month to raise awareness and funds for The National MS Society.  So, $10 from each one of these beauties sold is being donated to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.  Click here on the words MS NECKLACE to go directly to the necklace web page where you can place an online order.
MS is an unpredictable and devastating disease that can attack any of us in the prime of life.  Imagine one day you are ready to take on the world… and the next day you can’t move or you’ve lost your vision.  Many people right in our own communities are faced with the diagnosis of this incurable and debilitating disease.

Why is OUR cause MS you may be asking...?

My Mom, Gloria Hastings, was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis about 2 years ago.  Since being diagnosed my mom has taken medicine to help keep her MS symptoms controlled.  Currently she is taking Copaxone nightly by injections.  We have a Walk MS team, "Go For Gloria", and will be participating in the Emporia Walk MS in April.   I along with several family members and close friends are raising funds and walking in her honor.  She, of course, does not want any attention, but I want to show her some of the support and love that she has shown me, and countless others, over many years.
Again, I want to thank The Rusted Chain and Josh and Beki Hastings, for their efforts in helping us raise awareness and funds for the National MS Society.  By clicking here on the words  THE RUSTED CHAIN  you will be directed to The Rusted Chain's website and can view the MS necklace along with many other beautiful hand-stamped jewelry options.

A Princess Fairy Party

We had a birthday party last weekend... a Princess Fairy Birthday Party!  This was Sarah's request.  She just couldn't decide between a princess party or a fairy party, so we combined the two.  We ordered a princess cake and, Sarah's second request, Popee had to make the fairy cupcakes.
We got together with lots of Sarah's friends.  She invited many adults and children.  Lots of the little girls wore their Princess dresses to the party.  Sarah wore a Cinderella dress.  Phoebe wore an Ariel dress.
We had three activity tables for kids to do things at the beginning of the party.  A make a necklace table, a make a princess crown table, and a coloring book table.  I made the coloring books with Sarah's help... She and I found printable princess and fairy coloring sheets on the internet and then made several copies and put together a book for each child that would be at her party.  Each child got to take their projects home with them at the end of the party.

We played "put the flower crown on Ariel" game.  Sarah got her crown the closest... with a little help from Uncle Charlie!
We ate dinner and had cake and cupcakes.
Last, Sarah opened her gifts from her friends.  She got many nice things... books, games, clothes, craft projects, fairy wings, and Princess and Fairy themed things.
Thanks to all who came to Sarah's party and helped make it special for her.  We hope you had a fun time!
