Snow Exciting

About three weeks ago, on a Sunday morning when we woke up, it was snowing!  We ended up with about two inches on the ground and some super excited kids.  I don't know if everyone's kids get excited and have to play in it each time it snows, but ours do, and I am pretty sure my siblings and I did too.
The kids threw snowballs, took rides on their sleds, and made some snow angels.  Yes, Silas wore pink mittens.  He has hand-me-downs from two sisters which include pink mittens.  They kept his hands warm, but got several eye rolls and comments from Daddy about needing new mittens.  (I have since been to the store and remedied this pink mitten problem for him and Daddy.)
Eric wasn't feeling well on this day...at all (which rarely happens) but he put his Super Dad pants and cape on (actually it was more of a warm camo hunting outfit, but whatever) and went outside with our children.  He pulled all three kids around and around the yard on their sleds for at least a half an hour.  Super Dad I tell you!
Eric held onto the ropes attached to the girls sleds and Sarah held the rope attached to Silas's sled.
And off they went!

There was lots of laughter and smiles!
Go SUPER DAD!

Limo Lunch

The girls both sold enough items to get to go on the LIMO LUNCH ride from the school fund-raiser back in September.  The huge truck limo came to pick them up last week at school and drove them to McDonald's for lunch, then back to school.  Each child had to sell 30 items or more to qualify for this prize.  If you had more than one child selling the fund-raiser items there were breaks in items sold for 2 children selling, 3 children selling, and so forth.  Sarah sold 36 total items and Phoebe sold 12 total items making them both eligible for the limo lunch.  There were 8 children total from the girls school who met this fund-raising goal.  Good job kids!  Way to support your school!
And, a big THANK-YOU to each one of you who bought items from our girls and helped make it possible for them to get to go on such a cool limo lunch prize!
The limo driver handed Sarah the remote to the stereo in the limo for the ride to McDonald's and told her that she was in charge of the music.  She could change the song/music anytime she wanted to, or until she found a song that she liked.
At McDonald's Phoebe had a chicken nugget kid's meal, and Sarah picked a cheeseburger kid's meal.
Below - Silas and I sitting in the truck limo with the girls.
What did you like about the limo lunch?
Phoebe - "There was songs and a sink and TV and cups and napkins inside the limo.  It was big."
Sarah - "There were TV's in there. And, I was in charge of the music.  I didn't like one of the songs, but Mrs. ____ did so I didn't want to change it. (The song was "Celebrate Good Times".)  Also there was cushy seats."
P.S. Eric has still not ever ridden in a limo, ever, at all in his life.  He is just a little upset that all of us, including his 2-year old son, have all gotten to take a ride in a limo.  Ha!

Phoebe's Schoolwork - Aug, Sept, Oct

Phoebe has had a good first three months of school.  We have noticed great improvements in her speech.  She is also getting better at letter and number identification, and can count to 38 independently.
She continues to practice cutting, gluing, coloring, and writing her name at school.
She has gotten to make some fun art projects over the last few months.  She told us that she made the t-shirt (below) with a paint and glue mixture.  And the picture project (below) she made of herself, of course, had yellow hair!
She made the texture pumpkin by placing different textures under the paper on different sections of the pumpkin and then coloring the top of the paper section by section.
The pumpkin book below was one she helped make for herself during her individual speech time.  It helped her practice the ch sound.
Phoebe has been practicing writing the letters of the alphabet, saying letters and their sounds, and recognizing and identifying letters.
Around Halloween time she got to make several craft projects that were hung on the bulletin boards in the classroom and hallway.
All Pre-K students and their families were invited to a "Messy" night, hosted by the district's Early Childhood office.  Phoebe and I went and spent about an hour doing ALL of the messy activities... There was colored spaghetti noodles to search for letters in, gooey stuff to search for eyeballs in,...
LOTS of painting....
And a LOT of gooey hand and feet activities.  Phoebe had a very GOOD time being messy and creative!
Below she is holding three of her "Messy" night projects that she painted using several types of brushes.
Her class got to take a field trip to a local pumpkin patch one morning before Halloween.  Phoebe was excited to ride the bus with her teachers and friends.  Silas and I met them there.
We all got to take a hayrack ride and walk through the corn maze.  Each child got to pick out one medium sized pumpkin and three little pumpkins to take home with them.  Then they got to play in the children's area before heading back to the school.
Phoebe and Silas liked riding these trikes around the trike track.  Phoebe picked the yellow trike to ride!
Silas used his tippy toes to move his small red trike around the track.  Then they both enjoyed jumping and climbing in the large inflatables until it was time to go.
Below is Phoebe's class: (left to right) boy, teacher, Lyric, Emma, Hannah, Brody, boy, Remmington, boy, and Phoebe
Phoebe also got to dress-up on Halloween and parade around the school and in the classrooms with her class this year.  Then her class had a small party with lots of snacks before being dismissed for the day.
Smile! Fall yearbook pictures were taken in October.
