Game One (5/12/15)
Phoebe has not shown much interest in sports. However, this year she was super excited to try T-ball, so we signed her up.
Here is Phoebe out in the field. Note that she is not sitting down or playing in the dirt. That is not the case for all the kids on our team.
Coach DJ is helping Phoebe hit. She likes to get up there and swing hard.
She sure looks like she is having fun.
I am helping coach. I try to give instruction and keep kids focused the best I can.
Heading for home! Go Phoebe!
Good Game!
Behind the tall guy in blue (me), a few other parents helped out. We definitely appreciate it.
In line above, Phoebe followed by Christian, Cash, Noah, and Kali.
1-2-3 Twisters!
I am excited that Phoebe has taken an interest in a sport and that I can be involved in training and coaching her.
Game Two (5/20/15)
We teach them to use their "alligator" on ground balls. Pretty good throwing form by Phoebe.
Sarah and Phoebe sometimes have games at the same time. (Sarah's softball team travels to play some surrounding town's teams occasionally.) Coach DJ and I have to split up when this happens. He goes to coach Sarah's softball team, and I coach the T-ball team. As you can see by the thermal shirt and people in jackets that it was a cool night for mid May.
There is a shortage of baseball helmets for the team, so we got Phoebe her own. The pink helmet deters the boys from using it and the Wildcat sticker on the back keeps the Jayhawk fans from using it. Run Phoebe!
Game Four (5/28/15)
Phoebe played left field and second base during this game. We need to work on focusing on the game. She had one go past her when she wasn't looking. She did have one that she scooped up nicely with her "alligator". There are a few things to work on with the swing, but she does swing with a lot of effort and usually makes good contact.
Game Six (6/2/15)
Grandma Sharon was up to visit this week. Unfortunately, she wasn't able to make it to Phoebe's game due to another Sarah Softball/Phoebe T-ball conflict. Phoebe and I left Sarah's game in Mulvane to get to the T-ball game in Haysville. I forgot to take pictures and Stacee wasn't there to take any. Thus, no pictures for Game 6.
Game Seven (6/5/15)
Phoebe is playing 3rd base in the picture on the left above. Watch her "squash the bug" with her back foot while hitting in the picture on the right above.
Game Eight (6/9/15)
Below, Phoebe is focusing on touching all the bases as she rounds them. The kids did a good job of this throughout the year. Stacee took that picture right before Phoebe got flattened/wiped out by a boy on the other team trying to tag her out. She was tough and did not cry.
Game Nine (6/12/15)
Coach DJ was able to help coach as we had one of our few nights where T-ball and softball games didn't conflict.
Above, heading home.
Thanks to Noah's dad for helping at the tee.
Above, I am coaching third base. The other team was short on players and coaches so I filled in to help the other team run the bases. I also played Phoebe at third base for an inning. It was nice to be able to give her instructions during the inning.
Good Game!
Game Ten (6/23/15) Last game of the season
Above, good photos of Phoebe's last at bat.
I coached from 3rd Base so I could keep an eye on Sarah and the other Twisters softball team playing on the adjacent field. Sarah's team crushed the other team, which was undefeated and had crushed us the first game of the season.
Above left, Nanee and Popee, some of Phoebe's biggest fans. And, above right, my Twisters Girls.
In recognition of a great season, the coaches treated the kids to ice cream at McDonald's and handed out medals. I placed one around the neck of each kid. The only kids who could not make it were Allie and Tatum.
The girls were super sweet this year, listening and doing what was asked of the coaches. The boys started off the year quite rowdy, but really settled down as the season progressed. I would coach T-ball again; maybe Silas will be interested in a couple years. We will see what Phoebe decides to do next season.
Cute (Phoebe not me).
