For Halloween this year the kids all dressed up as characters from Disney's Toy Story. We went to visit Eric's grandma and my parents. Dad, Mom, and I took the kids several places around town to trick-or-treat.
Silas was Sheriff Woody.
"There's a snake in my boot."
"That wasn't flying, that was falling with style!"
"Reach for the sky."
Phoebe was Buzz Lightyear.
"To infinity and beyond!"
"Look out! You don't want to be in the way when my lasers go off."
Sarah was Jessie the Cowgirl.
"Yodel-Ey-Eee-Hoooo!"
"I know about Buzz's Spanish mode."
AND, my Dad was Stinky Pete, the Old Prospector.
"My biscuits are burn'in!"
"Fair? I'll tell you what's not fair. Spending a lifetime on a dime-store shelf watching every other toy be sold! Well, finally my waiting has paid off, and no hand-me-down cowboy doll is gonna mess it up for me now!"
The Gang looked great! They were all ready to go round up some candy.
First we headed downtown to trick-or-treat the businesses. Many business owners were handing out candy in front of their stores and inside their stores. We saw an old friend, Sandra, and got some candy from her, outside of her store, Second Love.
Flinthills Music, had a band, The Basement Pickers, playing live inside their store.
L&L Pets had some animals out to see and touch.
After our first candy round up we returned to my parents to carve pumpkins. Each kid sketched out a jack-o-lantern face on paper then Popee carved it for them.
Phoebe's pumpkin had some hedgeapple brains popping out of its head.
Silas wanted a pumpkin with lots of teeth.
Sarah drew a very elaborate face that could not be carved in our limited time. So on her second drawing she came up with the starry-eyed pumpkin.
The second candy round up was at Boo At The Zoo. We saw our friend, Ed or "Doc" as my Dad calls him, there passing out candy. He was dressed as a tourist.
Toward the end of our Boo At The Zoo tour Phoebe tripped and rolled on the ground, not spilling one single piece of her candy. We teased her about "falling with style", just like the real Buzz Lightyear.
Next, a candy round up at Grandma Great's house. They hit the jackpot there! Grandma Great had lots of yummy candy for their buckets and they got to eat a lot of pieces of candy while we all visited. Grandma Great just kept opening up piece after piece for them. Candy for dinner all around!
"And as the years go by, our friendship will never die. You're gonna see it's our destiny. You've got a friend in me."
We trick-or-treated the Mall businesses and a few friend's houses in town before calling it a night and going home to eat a real dinner. My Dad made chili for us and it was delicious. Of course it was followed by a dessert of more candy!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
