Striper Fishing

**GUEST BLOGGER**
 ~ Eric Hendrickson ~

Back in the summer, we had planned a fishing trip to Lake Texoma as part of the family reunion in Denison, Texas.  Due to the flooding going on then, we postponed the fishing trip until October 25th.  Due to a death in the family, two of Gloria's cousins were unable to go on the 25th.  Thankfully, my fishing buddy, Damian, and his friend Josh were able to take their places.
Josh, Damian, Me, and Paul about to head off on our fishing adventure.
Look at them zinnias behind Josh.  Nice! (Butterfly magnets.)
Around mid morning, the guide led us to the Red River, right off the spillway of Lake Texoma.
We traveled about 50 yards from where we launched the boat and staked our Striper catching hole.  A guy onshore was casting right near our boat trespassing on our claimed spot.  I am glad he didn't cast into the boat because fireworks would have erupted.  Thankfully, cooler heads prevailed.
I was wearing the transition lenses that my wife really loves. (to be read with lots of sarcasm)
After we caught our limit in Stripers, with me having caught the largest one, we moved down river a few hundred yards to catch some Catfish.  Well, in Paul's case, Carp.  Josh had the largest Catfish weighing in at 8lbs.  Paul had the only Carp caught, which was also the biggest fish caught, at around 10lbs.
We had 20 Striper (limit for 4 guys) and 18 channel cat.
Here is where we stopped to clean the fish.  Well, the guide cleaned the fish while I skipped rocks.  You can see me holding the biggest Striper weighing in at 7lbs.
Sarah has nicknamed Damian, "The Beard Guy".
Josh is a super guy who shares my love for Jesus.  The four of us had some great talks on the drive to and from Texoma about the Second Coming of Christ and politics, which happen to be standard discussion topics for Damian and I when we go fishing.  I am a pre-trib guy by the way; Damian is not.
Thanks for the trip Paul, I had a great time and thank you to our guide, Steve.
