Sarah's October School Happenings

October was a great school month for Sarah.  We had our first parent/teacher conferences of her 3rd grade school year, a book fair, school pictures, the Fun Run, and Halloween activities and a Fall party.
Sarah has a spelling test every week.  She brings her list of words home on Monday and we study at home some and she studies them throughout the week at school during reading time.
Tell me about the poem below.
Sarah:  "We each had to pick a poem.  I picked the poem, Lost Hat.  Then we practiced it on our own at home and with a partner.  Then we each had to read our poem in front of the class.  Our teacher graded us on how we read it."

During Red Ribbon Week you had several spirit days that you could wear certain things or crazy things.  What were some of those spirit days?
Sarah:  "Team shirt day, crazy socks day, wear slippers day, wear red day.  The last day was Halloween and we got to bring our costumes to school and change into them in the afternoon."
What are the drawings below?
Sarah:  "I drew a future bedroom and my real bedroom at home.  My future bedroom would have a tree, a bathroom in it, stars on the ceiling, a bigger room than usual, a table with flower pots on it, and I have a lot of tables.  And there are two cats in my room"
Tell me a little about the Book Fair.
Sarah:  "Parents, Grandparents, kids from the school, and teachers are invited to come to the Book Fair.  When you get there you get to have a donut and orange juice.  When you are done eating you can pick out some books from the Book Fair to buy.  You can buy books for yourself or for a classroom."
Below are Sarah's Fall school pictures.
There was a school-wide Fun Run in October.  Click HERE to read more about the FUN RUN and how both girls did in their races.  Sarah's class made posters to hold up during the other students races and to help cheer all the other students on.
Sarah did VERY WELL during the first nine weeks in all of her classes and subjects.  Her teacher had all positive things to say about her.  Yay! Good job, Sarah!

For Halloween Sarah dressed up as Jessie the Cowgirl from Disney's Toy Story.  Her class paraded around the school with the other classes so that all of the students and adults could see everyone's costumes then they went back to to their classrooms for Fall parties before being dismissed.

What was one of your favorite costumes that you saw another student wearing?
Sarah:  "A preschool girl had on a cake costume.  It had three layers and it was all around her body.  It was colorful.  It had a lot of pink, purple, and blue."
