Phoebe's October and November School Report

It has been another good two months of school for Phoebe.
She does very well on Spelling Tests.  She studies the words at school and we study them at home during the evenings.
The school had a Chik-fil-A fundraiser night in October.  Several of Phoebe's friends were there too.  Below left to right, Shawna, Haylee, Lydia, and Phoebe.
Phoebe had homework every weeknight but Friday.  She works hard to complete the reading and spelling with me each night, and works with Daddy on Math.
The kids and I attended Pastries With Parents one morning before school.  We each had juice and a donut then went to the Scholastic book fair together.
The first nine weeks ended in October.  We had parent/teacher conferences one evening and heard all good things about Phoebe.
Below, Phoebe's 1st nine weeks grades/report card.  She did extremely well.
Phoebe is doing very well in math.  Once she learns a concept she's got it.  (I think she got her Daddy's math brains, thank goodness.)
Phoebe told us a funny story one day about the Desk Monster...  He came several times during first grade but hadn't yet made a visit in the second grade.  She and her tablemates were talking about this one day before recess... One boy with a messy desk wasn't concerned at all.  Low and behold, the Desk Monster came that very day while they were at recess and all got a treat at her table that day but one.
Below, three of the music tests that second grade has to take....
Phoebe liked learning about Sharks.  She even made a book, at home, all about Sharks!
Below, Phoebe's fall school picture.
Below, Phoebe wrote," When I grow up I want to be a doctor because I want to help people."
Below, Phoebe wrote a long story about a witch and a wizard.
Below left to right, Taityn, Alessondra, Phoebe, and Haylee waiting for the school Halloween parade to begin.
Second grade family night was a big success.  They was a good turnout of parents and children.  It was a camping/under the stars theme with lots of learning activities for the families to do together, (reading, math, art, and a snack).
Second grade is participating in the Pizza Hut Book It! program again this year.  It is easy for Phoebe to read her books each month.  Her reward each month for reading and turning in the form is a free personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut.
This year Grandparents Lunch day fell on a day when Popee and Nanee were on a trip so instead of eating lunch at school with Popee and Nanee, Silas sat with the girls while they ate and I took pictures of all the other kids with their grandparents for the PTO facebook page and the yearbook.
Phoebe made a 30 days of thankfulness jounal.  I only photographed a few of my favorite pages (below).
Phoebe gave Eric and I this thankful card.....
Phoebe also received a "Thankful Card/Letter" from her teacher...it said...
"To Phoebe, I am thankful for you because I've got to witness your love of reading grow for a year and a half.  I get to see your goofy and silly side.  I've got to see you grow and come out of your shell, talking to me more.  Phoebe, you are an amazing kid and will do great things in life!  I'm blessed to have had you in my class for 2 years!"
