Sarah's October and November School Report

Sarah has had another great two months of school.  She dose very well on spelling tests each week.  She studies her words at school and at home during the week.
The kids and I attended Pastries With Parents one morning before school.  We each had juice and a donut then went to the Scholastic book fair together.
Sarah's 1st nine weeks report card below reflects how well she is doing academically in school.
Sarah, below with two of her friends, waiting for the school Halloween parade to start.
Sarah does well in math.  She even was asked to tutor another boy in her class, every other day, who needs some help with math homework.
Below, Sarah's fall school picture.
Below, is the book Sarah recreated with chapter summaries (all 28 chapters) and pictures she drew of the book "Touching Spirit Bear" that her class read  and did several projects on afterward.
The fifth grade had a music program honoring our Veteran's a few days before Veteran's Day in November.  Sarah was only able to go to the dress rehearsal because we were out of town the night of the actual performance.
Sarah created a large Animal Totem out of boxes and wrote a report that she had to give orally to her class.  The animals she picked to put on her Totem were a Sea Turtle, Salmon, and an Otter.  The totem and report were just two more of the projects completed after reading a chapter book called "Touching Spirit Bear".
Sarah typed in Technology, "When I grow up I want to be a vet that takes care of animals.  I also want to be a basketball player who plays in Emporia, Kansas.  I want to live in a farm house.  I will have horses, goats, and chickens.  I want to be a mom that has four kids."
Leadership, scholarship, responsibility, and servitude - The four standards by which Sarah was judged and selected for the National Elementary Honor Society.  The induction ceremony was held on November 13th.  Only eight fifth graders were selected for this big honor.  (This is just another one of my full mommy heart moments!)
After the ceremony there were cupcakes and punch for everyone to enjoy.
Below, Sarah with two of her best friends, Hannah and Savannah, who were also inducted into the National Elementary Honor Society.  These are three smart, kind, and athletic girls.... Three of my favorite fifth grade girls!
This year Grandparents Lunch day fell on a day when Popee and Nanee were on a trip so instead of eating lunch at school with Popee and Nanee, Silas sat with the girls while they ate and I took pictures of all the other kids with their grandparents for the PTO facebook page and the yearbook.
She made this 3-D diorama for a report in her class.
Sarah typed this "thankful" list while she was in her technology class:  Pets, Family, Basketball, Softball, Volleyball, House, Warmth in the winter, Roof over my head, Food on the table, Flowers in spring, Laughter, and a New house.
